: Listen to his Bible study, which airs at 9:30 A.M. here in the midwest and try to catch him in an inconsistency as he interprets the Bible.
I've tried to follow his bible studies before, but they bore me to tears. I really don't care about his endless examinations of a few chosen verses about biblical irrelevancies.
His call in shows are more amusing. The other day he was explaining to an ex-catholic why most the catholic rituals were wrong. His argument was basically that the bible is the source of true religion. He explained that even though the catholics were the ones to choose the books to assemble and canonize into the bible, their other rituals couldn't be trusted because they didn't include them in the bible they assembled. I was on the floor laughing as he basically explained how its possible for a hairball (Catholicism) to barf up a cat ('true' Christianity).
: Where else have you found inconsistencies besides creation? Or has that been enough to turn you off to everything else he has to say?
Nothing in Christian teaching (Mormon or other that I've seen) has been 'consistent' to me. My life was seriously hindered by Christian teaching. I never found it to work for me, nor make any sense at all. I wouldn't believe Christianity to be "God's Truth" even if it was internally consistent (which it isn't), because it isn't practical, useful or consistent with the reality of my life. I guess I'm just not "Chosen to be saved by God" like you Blue.
Besides, there are simpler explanations of what Christianity really is. Explanations that explain ALL the problems, contradictions, myths and history without needing to plea to faith. Here's a fun overview, written by just a regular person, it broadly covers enough items that you can begin to see trivial explanations for Christianity being just another group of myths rather than being "God's Word".
