: It's too bad you never traveled to Asia while in your youth (and with your mind still open) and lived for a few years with a family that understands humility.

The fact that God would redeem a miserable sinner such as myself creates a incredible sense of humility.

Here's the deal, David. While you were a Mormon, you were told that you had to do all the work. You had to believe, do good deeds & so forth, so you could make it to the C.Kingdom (be saved). So you have assumed that you are personally responsible for your salvation. But the truth is that God saves. On our own, we can't do enough good deeds to work our way to heaven. (Gal 2:16) Nobody's perfect, right?

I appreciate your reasons for rejecting Christianity. The Mormon perspective is all screwed up. I would submit that Mormonism isn't Christianity at all. You didn't reject Christianity as such, mostly just the Mormon distortion. Christianity doesn't require an alleged prophet, secret temple rituals, additional scripture, and legalistic diet proscriptions. A Christian trusts completely in Christ for his salvation.
