loved and hated
stood in this very spot and stared you down
swayed and staggered
he threw down his crown
nobody moved to pick it up
he abdicated his throne
glaring deep into passionless faces
smelling the filth of the lie
the stink in the smoke
tired of legend
and ageless song
nauseated with reluctant souls
broken distorted with twist
he stared you down
pierced you deep
broke off a piece and shoved it down your thoat
choking on mediocrity you knew he was here
leaving a trail
verse of silk
rhythm and funk
he stood right here and stared you down"
