A while ago, someone expressed skepticism regarding (macro)evolution based on the supposition that the ancestors of modern whales could have never been land dwellers. David Berlinski made similar statements during the Firing Line debate.
Yesterday, at the doctor's office, I was thumbing through the April 1998 issue of Discover and came upon an interesting article called "The Equation of a Whale" by Carl Zimmer which I think is a snipet from his book entitled At the Water's Edge : Macroevolution and the Transformation of Life.
Thought some of you may be interested in reading the facts rather than resorting to the all-too-common technique of calling ignorance of a subject 'god'.
