: What I am hearing is more of the same crap about trying
: to justify Joseph Smith's misrepresentation of his translational
: abilities. I've read all the arguments from every angle and
: the bottom line is the "apologetics" arguments don't hold
: water. Charles Larson's book "By His Own Hand Upon Papyrus" and
: David Wright's analysis of the timelines of the various "sacred"
: works are the best arguments I've seen. Having said that,
: did anyone out there ever have a missionary or any other member
: of the Church tell you about these controversies when they were
: trying to convert you? They sure as hell didn't tell me!
: Where's their so-called "honest with your fellow man?"

They don't have to tell you about the lies that others present. Naturally, those of your best arguments are considered best because of the fact that one can "leave the Church but can't leave it alone." As I've noted, the Book of Abraham has not been found, and neither has the Ark of Noah; neither has the Babel account been verified; or the truth in the idea that a woman can be transmuted into a pillar of salt. I imagine when you are sharing Romans 3:23 and 6:23 with others in an attempt to convert them, that you do not share the stories of the Crusades, the Inquisition, or clashes in Ireland with prospective converts?
