Hey, JAK,
As someone who’s interested in linguistics, I thought that you might be interested in the fact that the etymological root of the words “science” and “shit” are identical - they both derive from the same word. I’m not making any particular point about that fact – I just thought that it was worth pointing out – I’ll leave others to draw conclusions from it. I just think it’s funny.
Science, merely means “knowledge” or “learning”, so Scientific Pantheism would mean “Pantheism on the basis of knowledge” – at least that would be my deduction. I’ve never heard of the philosophy myself. It’s probably just another concocted aspersion like the characterization of non-Christian socialists as “Secular Humanists” as disseminated by so-called “Christian” political activists. That is clearly slanderous and as such, in my opinion, anti-Christian social-activist philosophy.
I’m not saying that it’s wrong to derive an academic title for a philosophy from a compilation of its tenets in an otherwise un-chartered domain. I just think that it’s pretty obvious that there are malicious political intentions involved in this case.
It’s a shame that some Christians have so little understanding of and faith in God that they feel compelled to resort to such obviously absurd efforts to justify their pitiful commitments to a God who doesn’t need their defense of Him, especially when He is who they claim that He is.
Sometimes, when confronted with the misguided acts of such idiots, I’m almost ashamed to call myself a Christian. I’m glad that I don’t need to depend on them for my faith.
