More letters from Mormons - part 15  Updated June 2006

Note from Eric (webmaster of exmormon.org): These are actual unedited letters from Mormons. To read other letters see:
[Letters 14 ] [Letters 13 ] [[Letters 12 ] [ Letters 11 ] [ Letters 10 ] [ Letters 9 ] [ Letters 8
The text in bold below are my headers or excerpts from the letters.

1. Mormonism

Oh my goodness! I cannot believe that you take time
out of your life to judge "Mormons." When you have
everything ALL wrong. You do NOT know what you are
doing. Every night before you go to bed you need to
repent for your sins and NEVER do them again. You need
to delete that website because its completely false.
Have you even been to not a "mormon" church but to a
church in general? Cause if you have you need to get
out because you are not doing anything if you are
criticizing other people. Have you ever gone to The
Church of JESUSCHRIST of Latter-day Saints? You have
no right to put LIES on the internet to discourage
people in converting. Its THEIR decision and if there
are many converts leaving the church its for their
reasons and maybe thanks to you but those who stand
strong in the ONLY TRUE CHURCH ON THE EARTH know its
true and will not be removed from the presense of God
because of silly people like you who waste their time
telling people lies. I can't even believe I am wasting
my time with you. you need to BEG God for forgiveness
because what you are doing is just crazy. and if you
dont you will "live in endless torment" with the
father of all lies, the devil. May God have mercy on
your soul.

A member of the only true church, The Church of
JesusChrist of Latter-day Saints.

2.

You all have the right to your opinion, an di respect that. i happend on to this website when doing research for a school paper, and i am truly dissapointed that there is a website dedicated to disproving and discrediting the mormon faith. Your right in the fact that if you dont want to believe, you will definalty be able to find ways to support your position, however, it goes both ways. That is why members beliefs are based on a testimony that was given to us by the spirit, as we couldnt know for a suriety about something that dosnt exist, if it wasnt a deeper feeling, or spirtual witness revealing this to us. I myself was not always the strongest memeber, and i felt like i didnt fit in and really wasnt accepted by the youth in the church; however i came to a point when i began to read the book of mormon, and i began to really pray to my heavenly father for comfort in times when i was in complete dispair. i finaly recieved the peace i needed and realized i was going to church, not to be social, but to reveal my dedication to my heavenly father, and to repay him 3 hours out of my life, in return for all that he gave me. no one can tall you into joining or out of joining, its a personal choice that everyone has to make.

3. Satan has me

i can't believe how satan has managed to creep int your life so much and that you would then go against the gospel.  do you not realise that one day you will stand accountable for what you are doing.  you will never win you will never suceed i truly feel so sorry for you.  i urge you to look into your heart and stop the futile anger that is coming from your every pore.  with love roddy kirk

4. ??? I am an engineer and have a life

Let people be people. don’t you have anything better to do than to judge people I mean get a real job. as long as you believe in a supreme being who carer. who cares anyway. GET A LIFE!!!! Do something for yourself.  This day and age you should have enough to worry about.  Start a family and preach to them. Don’t worry about others.  Start your own religion or something.  Just don’t bother anyone with your nonsense.

5. I would agree if I knew what she knows

Sir...

I would like to apologise for what ever it is that has given you this
impression of the mormon church (curch of jesus christ of latterday saints).
but while you read this please ask your self is every person in the
catholic, anglican or christian church could be so perfect to sit at the
side of god? for i know that every member of the mormon church is not. that
is why one attends church to strive to be better and help one another as a
community so that we may return to our heavenly father. you have your
beliefs and opinions and i respect that, i also respect that you choose to
express them. this -like your website- is an expression of my beliefs and
opinions.

i'm an 18 year old girl and i've been apart of the church of jesus christ of
latterday saints since the day i was born. perhaps you may think me biased,
but there is no other person better to get facts from then a person that has
experience. this church belongs to the lord, his son jesus christ and the
holy ghost who guides us with divine intervention. we no longer support
polygamy, this was introduced for at the beginning of the church there were
more women then men. and lets face it back in the 19th century women were
not exactly able to provide for themselves because of the bias that ruled
alot of societies.

here is my story. as a child i was lead in the foot steps of my parents as
they guided me through life and the church. as a young teen i questioned
existence and why i had followed. now at the thresh hold of adulthood i have
faith in my church and my self.

im truly sorry for the length of this email, but i just needed you to know
this. you dont have to accept what i have emailed you but i needed it to be
done. forgive me for beinging impulsive enoguh to do this but my dad gives
me alot of freedom enough to show he loves me, but not quite alot so that im
safe and wont get my self drunk or killed.

Respectfully yours Raina Jane S.

i truly am sorry for the person who has put these ideas in your head for you
would not agree if you were to know what i know.

6. A very active member

Hi, i am a very active member of the LDS Church.  I am having trouble understanding why y'all created a website putting down Mormons.?

"You will be expected to give up the use of alcohol, tobacco, coffee, and tea." ; Why is this bad?  These are all bad habits.

I agree that the church expects a lot of your time, but you owe your entire life to God.  why should a few hours of your week be so bad?

You say that Missionaries decive people by not telling them the full story of your responsibilities, obligations and expectations.  But mostly from what i read on your site, you are doing the same.  Almost everything i read on the website was correct, but you had about 6 times more bad comments than good ones.

"If you should ever decide that you made a mistake in joining the church and then leave it, you will probably find (judging from the experiences of others who have done so) that many of your Mormon friends will abandon and shun you. If you are unable to convince your family members to leave the church with you, you will find that the church has broken up your family and your relationship with them may never recover. "
Strongly disagree with this thought.

Maybe you should even try to describe some of the blessing that you recieve by living a rightous life.  In my opinion i think that if you were "drivin away" from the church (assuming you were a member ),  that you became inactive before that and were turned away not by God but by unrightousness.

I am not putting down your religion that you are now if any.  For most religions i agree with most\all their teachings as well.

I would be very interested in knowing about your current religious belifes, and why you turned away from the church.

7.  Spell checker not working

Well to start out i have been a mormon for 16 years and well love it. You people are so devout to distroy what you truely dont have a clue about.

First yes booth members have to be worthy to enter the temples. but on the other hand do you exspect heavenly father to allow a sealing of the family to go through the workings and not be worthy??? you hipocrites.....
I have been a member of the only true church in this world for 16 years and i'm sorry but you first must understand that i have a true unbroken testomony of the church.
second the callings that you refer to is exsacly what they are callings you can say yes or no to it.   It does take some time from the family but not any more that a related volenteer orginiation, such as the red cross or so on and so forth. you choose how much time you wish to devote to it, not the church!!!!!!
third If you would honestly sit down and pray like your supposed to about this there would be no doubt about the church and its teachings. the eternal family is something that all members of your family have to want and work togather to acomplish it. this does not in no way say you cant be togather if you dont do this you can you just wont be bound togather. you can still be able to see each other.
any orginisation you look at has to have people to help run it if it is too much on a family it is the responsibility of that member to say so and they will appoint someone to either help you with it and the work load or assign it to someone else. (when ye are in service to others ye are in service of your god).........
it really upsets me to see that all you people have nothing better else to do than to talk bad obout things you truely dont understand.
we as meembers dont go around bashing your beliefs and what you believe in dont bash what we believe. it just goes to show that with so much opposition going on about the church they either dont know about it very well or the devil has a strong hand on you and you will be judged acording to what your doing!!!!
any member that recieves the priesthood has taken an oath if you recieved the preisthood than you probley at one time took the oath between you and god the father. it is if you take on the responsibility of the preisthood if you ever turn from the church and dont return to honer the preisthood wich you excepted  knowing the father gave it to you there would be no forgiveness to you in this world or in the world to come.
if this religion is true and i believe whole hartedly that it is how are you going to exsplaine with a good heart and solid mind standing in front of the father and his son what you are doing or should i say want to do to his church!!!!!!
when something is right on this earth always the devil tryes to destroy it but he wont we are the largest church in the world and growing might i say becouse we are right and you my brothers and sisters are eternaly wrong you will have to face the maker on this mager problem!!!!!
if you would have prayed about this church like you were supossed t you would know it was true and right!!!!!!!

8.  This site is shocking

9. A 13 year old writes

How can you do this? Don't you have anything better to do with your time? It is none of your business what religion people choose to beleive. I am 13 years old and I can still see how outrageous this is. What is so horrible with the mormon religion? Is it that children are taught to wait to have sex till their married or that we don't drink or do drugs? This is so sickening. I know that this religion is true and if you don't believe in it, fine. Just don't call me a poor misleaden person, because  I am not. You are for trying to persuade people to denounce their religion because of your so-called "facts". Were you there? Did you see what happened? No, you did not. You are a dispicable person and I can not beleive how rude you are.

10.  He wrote a good sermon

Eric,

I was just browsing around and stumbled onto your website.  What a load of crap!  As I looked at some of the postings I just kept thinking over and over the Lord saying that people like you and those who post on your site would "kick against the pricks, persecute the Saints and fight against God".  How could it be better stated??

Don't think that I'm some pious Mormon from Utah valley.  I'm an excommunicated member (if there is such a thing).  The one thing I have never completely lost and will never deny is the witness of the Spirit of God telling me that Joseph Smith was and his successors were and are prophets of God and that the Book of Mormon is true.  If you ever had that witness or feelings of God's spirit telling you that these things are true then I really pity you.  The thing that haunts me and should haunt you is that I know when we meet our Creator there will be an accounting for every minute we spent on this planet, and in that accounting we will be shown how much time we spent in different pursuits.  I think the Lord will tell us "If you'd spent just 5% of the time reading the scriptures and praying as you did doing ___________, you'd have been just fine; but you couldn't even show that small commitment to Me".  Wow - this little sermon is as good for me as I hope it is for you Eric.

11.  LDS has the real truth

No story for you today. I just wanted to write you, and ask you a couple of questions. I'm sure you can post this email, and have it twisted and turned so that it looks like i'm a horrible person.

But what is the point? In the Bible, which is a book that hopefully you can relate to it says 'love one another', so why is it necessary to slander the LDS religion? Or the LDS faith? Does it do you good?

I do think it's sad that you would give out false information and so destroy the church in this way. For example: in one of the "mormon letters" that you posted, you ripped a lady apart for saying she knew the church was true because of feelings she had.

Do you not blieve in God? There is no real proof that he exists either, besides your own personal testimony and, 'feelings', or in other words a whitness from the holy ghost that tells you it's true.

Look at the good things that the LDS church does, we help people, we have a religion that is focused around Christ our savior, we are upstanding citizens, who do not drink, smoke, gamble, who promote peace.

Why is that bad? Why does that deserve to be slandered? I believe that every religion has good, and every religion has a piece of the truth, but that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has the real truth.

So, now sir, you make take my words and twist them...because I know what's right, I know why I'm here on Earth. May God show his mercy upon you.

Stephanie T...

12.  We are persecuting them

Why do you and your kind persecute us?  You look for anything you can to use against us......I really believe your religion is that of worshipping smear campaigns against those who really do believe in Christ's complete Gospel.....

I have looked at other non-denominational churches and am sick of hearing them preach anti-Mormon sentiments all the time.........So I will continue to feel the persecution, just like the early American members, as well as those biblical figures from both the old and new testaments.
Let's be honest now: Is it not true that a lot of you left the Church because you could not abide by the high standards and serve in a capacity without being compensated financially?  I say, the eternal rewards are much greater than anything you can get financially on this earth......If you do not agree with the teachings, that is fine and up to you.  We all have our free agency.  But I really believe it is unfair to spread lies, call the Church a cult, and influence others against it when you have no real proof that it is false.  As a matter of fact, if you have really ever read the Book of Mormon you would see that it is another testament of Jesus Christ....If you read it to find contradictions with other Christian Religion beliefs, then you are not allowing the spirit to come into your mind and help you see the light.  If it was because of a member that you fell away and feel compelled to spread anti-Mormon propaganda, remember, it is not the church that we believe in, it is the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  The church is just an organization of men.  Men are faulty and do sin.  I don't believe the church is true, I believe the gospel to be true.....The gospel covered by the Bible, Book of Mormon, and the standard works of the faith.......
I challenge you to read the Book of Mormon and search for the truth yourself. Turn off all your hate against the Mormons, and read as a Christian.  Christians are Love and Charity....I wonder if Jesus would pitch un-proven smears against any people in his flock?  And is it Christian to hate?  I don't think so....

13.  She has a true testimony

I am so sorry that you feel the need to criticize the religion I am in... I would like to tell you that I believe in the church and have a TRUE testimony of it. I hope that you will PLEASE stop the criticism because it hurts my family and I. I hope you know that something as unreliable as the Internet is NOT the way to go and if you believe everything you see on the Internet, it shows your ignorance AND stupidity.

14.  Temple changes never happened

All I'm gonna say is that those changes were never made. The details you talk about what happen in the temple are very skewed. I know, I've been there and done them.  The sources you cite obviously have their own twisted creative minds and their own agendas.    Your website is the most offensive I've ever heard of for profaning the sacred things of the Lord.

-mightyfletch

I wrote back to the mightyfletch:

In 1990, the 5 points of fellowship were removed.  That is a major change.  That was the reason you went to the veil (prior to 1990) - to do the 5 points of fellowship with "health in the navel" etc.  The 5 points were an obvious copy of 1840's Masonry and was an embarrassment to the church.  That is why it was removed.  Women did not like being groped through the veil either.  I saw the change and many others.  You must be only in your 20's.

Eric

He responded:

Your site has many errors that if you had really been there you never would have posted. Besides that, you have forever condemned yourself through your website.  Also it is an extreme offesnse to many.  You are a fool.

15.  A one liner

so the church is not true. then why would there not be one church. i guess it is hard to keep the commandments of God

16. More persecution

Sir/Madam,
I read through the information on the LDS Mormon Indoctrination page.  It would seem that Christianity fits the definition of a "cult" as well.  Most of the information you present is given with the understanding that Joseph Smith wasn't a prophet.  If thats the case, simply saying that he wasn't and encouraging truth-seekers to pursue the truth of the matter themselves through study and prayer would suffice for your intents.  I thought you should know.  I am a member of the Church.  I, and the rest of the Saints will continue to pray for you as you despitefully use and persecute us.  I sincerely hope you find peace in your return to the Gospel someday.

Nate Williams

17.  Will I publish his words?

I know a very intelligen many who has become inactive, but his actions are basically drawn from his own lack of tolerance for people.  I know another man who has been disappointed in the average Mormon because of their lack of taking the heart the teaching of compassion, but this man's faith is unshaken because he understands that the "church" is not people... it's the teachings of Christ to people who are not perfect.  Improvement always comes slow, and to become inactive and to berate Mormons for not being perfect is to lack understanding of the nature of the human condition God made for us.  Christ himself asked, "How long must I endure these people?"  His answer was the infinite atonement.  This is something we should all learn from and dismiss our petty grievances against individuals in the church.  Rather, reach to the real essence of the church, that of providing a forum whereby everyone has an opportunity to improve.

Will you publish my words?  I doubt it, because you have an agenda of smoke and distrust you want to spread which is definitely not Christian.

18. ?

I have a question, how is that since you cults do not have free agency and the Church does, how the heck is that a cult? All you’re doing is spreading lies about the Church that aren’t true, based on “evidence” that is full of lies.

19. A rambling letter

Hi Eric,

Umm... I'm actually not sure why I'm writing to you, but I think I just
felt like it.
Anyways, I'm a 21yr old female and I'm from New Zealand.... Sorry about
the poor grammar, i can't even understand what I'm saying sometimes
either, but I'm gonna try lol.
Ok You're probably thinking, "what the heck does she want?" I think I
just wanted to say... wow! You've done heaps of research and stuff on
your website. A lot of the stories and the information you posted
somehow got me started thinking too. I was scared that I would probably
start to really believe you, in a sense I actually do believe you. I
believe that all your experiences and other peoples experiences are
probably true. I am starting to sound like a Nice Mormon...lol I know,
but please bear with me. I'm not very good at expressing my opinions and
feelings much believe it or not, but I haven't even bore my testimony in
quite a long time and I mean years. Even though I haven't bore my
testimony in a while and I don't really openly express my feelings about
the gospel much. somehow I can't deny it though, so that's not what I'm
doing. But I'm really hopeless at quoting scriptures or even reading
them frequently lol. I  even am really lazy at saying my prayers
daily.... So I can't back myself up much with fancy or even simple
scriptures like other LDS members have.
Man, when I think about it I wish I knew my scriptures and doctrine
really well, so I could feel really brainy (intelligent)and be more
knowledgeable, but I still attend all church meetings and activities,
even institute so that's a start I guess. I see a lot of my friends and
family stop believing or should I say, they simply stop attending church
gradually and enjoy the perks that come with being "less Active &
In-active" (funny how we always use these terms).
You sound like a guy who knows his stuff about the gospel and sounds
like it took a lot to finally make you turn away from the LDS church.
your intentions are good I think. And believe me I'm not trying to say
that to be different from other LDS members who have emailed you. Man I
actually couldn't be bothered trying to read all of those "Mormon
Letters". So I can't say that I've read them all to check and if there
were any like mine...lol yeah you could say that I'm trying to stand up
for the LDS church, but you surely know that I don't need to do that. No
one does. Honesty, I think that if every part of you thinks that what
you're doing is right then you may as well continue what ya doing. Coz
you wouldn't be doing it if you didn't actually believe it right?
you'll probably continue to get abusive but nice emails from LDS
members. I guess that's just life... and you know life's not meant to be
easy right? lol.
I wish that I had some kind of wisdom or nice advice to share with you,
but I don't think anyone or anything is gonna change your mind just like
no one or nothing is gonna change my mind about my testimony of the
gospel. Yeah, I have questions and uncertainties, but  who doesn't? I
always think the reason we don't know certain things is because we
aren't ready to see or know them just yet.... The Lord sees the Bigger
picture and that's fine by me.
Well I know you don't have all day to sit and read these kinds of
letters and sorry it's not that juicy. I couldn't help myself...lol you
know I don't support what you're doing right? just in case you didn't
quite get that from my blah blah blah above...lol
When I read things from anti - Christ's and stuff I do feel sad, but
hey, everything in the scriptures are pretty much coming to past and
there's proof all around us every day and that's amazing that they were
written like soooo long ago to warn us.wow! If we truly understood that
then we'd never do anything wrong. I totally believe in Satan too, he
really knows how to get us in our weakest spot.

Well thanks for letting me blabber... I guess you probably don't have
control over that part, but you certainly have control over reading this
so enjoy.
I hope that every thing works out for the good with you.

God Bless.

 From Yorana Murphy

20.

You must understand that it's not very nice of you to abuse our religioun.  You need to shut down your site.  I'm sorry if you don't like our religioun but you don't need to make a site abusing it.  Please shut sown the site.  Thank you.

21.  No god for all of time and eternity

your web site is rediculous!!!  every person will hear the fulness of the gospel that the church of jesus christ of latter day saints has restored to the earth.  They will accept it in this life or the next or they will not live with god for all of time and eternity.  and people like you who lead people away from the truth are no different that the son of perdition.  you have no authority and no right to tell what mormons believe.  you do not represent the church and your opinion and the opinions of your site are just a bunch of people who are bias and angry because they could not live up to the standards that the lord has set forth.  you should be ashamed of yourself.  i am pretty sure that my letter will have no effect on you because of your pride.  but i figured i would give you another chance to accept the fullness of the gospel.  take it for what you will.

22. A convert and returned missionary

To whom it may concern-

My name is Kelley and I am a convert to the church. I am the only memeber in my family and a recent Returned Missionary. I just want you to know that what you are doing is a very sad thing. I honestly don't understand why you would spend so much time trying to tare down the faith of a person. Any person that excersizes any amount of faith in a supreme being is better off than those that don't. I think that it is sad that you take something that you once knew to be true and because you had a bad experience you turn against the truthes that you know are true. I know that there is one concept that is universal regardless of your faith and that is the ability to pray and recieve answers from your Heavenly Father, God, Jehovah, or whatever name you have placed on what you believe to be the Supreme Being. I hope that you might take the time to pray and ask that Person if taking the faith of another and taring it down is what He would want of you. As for yourself you have the right to decide and follow the faith of your choice. Sharing your faith with others to help build theirs is a beautiful thing, regardless of what religion of choice you are sharing. IT is very sad though to take what someone has put their heart into and to try to rip it apart and make it some horrible awful thing. Don't you think that by sharing what you know to be true if ti be true will cause something to change in the person and convince them without you having to tell them that what they are doing is wrong. It is very comparable to Criticism and Constructive criticism. Just food for thought. I hope that you have a great day and that you continue to follow the things that Heavenly Father leads you to do.

Sincerely-

Kelley

23.

You guys should get your facts else where. Why do you come ot an internet site where anyone can post anything and you have no way of telling if it was some bored teenager that did it for fun? You should go look at our sources of doctrine, the Book of Mormon, Pearl fo Great Price ETC...,  if you have questions rather than looking towards the internet to solve your problems. Also, before you get into name calling you should know what the word means. Lots of people describe the LDS church, forumoly known as mormons, as a cult. I, being a mormon, will not deny this because it is true, however, if you knew what being a cult means you would realize that the LDS church is a "cult" same as the Catholic church, the Jewish faith and anyother organized religeon. All i am saying is that you should get you facts stright and you should do it qwith published churfch doctrine instead of an anonymous web site with no credentials.
