So, I'm going through some old things in the basement and I found a box of my wife's old 45's.

I am, wait for it, the proud owner of, wait a little more, of a copy of Crazy Horses by the Osmonds!!!!! I'm certain that in some circles this would have to bring in 2 maybe 3 dollars (or Pesos, not sure).

The most amazing thing about this 45 is that although MGM printed it, it was produced under the Kolob Records label. I've never been so proud of the fact that I know what any of this means.

I dare any of you to top that.

Ok, so there are posts of Lord of the Rings and virginity--sorry, you guys got nothing on an original 45 of Crazy Horses.

When I first joined the church, I found an Osmond's LP at the store. It was called "The Plan" and had songs about the plan of salvation. I enjoyed it. Wish I knew what happened to it.

I still have my copy of The Plan. So neener neener :)

Oh, archytas! What you said. When I was fourteen in 1972 my favorite album was Black Sabbath #4. That record rocks all day. My father hated it, which was the best endorsement it could ever receive. Right now, at the age of fifty-six, I have that album on vinyl. How awesome is "Wheels of Confusion?" I get a chilly rush up my spine from that song's final guitar solo.

Amazing stuff. Wish I could have seen them back in the day.

I have a whole collection of Osmond LPs, including 45s Down by the Lazy River and The Twelfth of Never by Donny. I even have a few Donny and Marie albums. LOL

I used to listen to The Plan album so much. Ugh.

The first time I saw The Osmonds perform "Crazy Horses" was on a YouTube video, and I watched until the end to see if it was a skit or a parody that would have been on Donny and Marie's 1970's show. That song was so not a good fit for them.

In the 1970's spirit of uncovering the hidden (read: Satanic) message that any given rock band was sending to the youth that could only be discovered by playing the record backwards, I submit that Brother Joseph used the same technique to send us a message about Mormonism when he named Mormon Heavenly Father's planet Kolob, i.e., bolok. The poor, uneducated farm boy just didn't know the correct way to spell bollocks.

Some record stations refused to play Crazy Horses, because they thought they were singing about drugs.

What were they singing about? What were the "crazy horses"?

(I truly don't know!)

I heard them explain it once, but I forget what they said.

Wikipedia says, "The song is claimed to be a protest about the amount of pollution created by cars," but that explanation doesn't sound familiar.

But maybe that's it.
