Hi All, the Monson page on Wikipedia is getting the fraud charges repeatedly removed:

Keep the pressure on, restore the edits when you see them removed. The more this is added back in by multiple users the more likely it is to stay.

I'll try to pitch in. It's surreal to read the fraud section.

Not there, 8:30 PM Left Coast time, but it does mention "In the mid-1950s Monson was the secretary of the Utah State Roller Club, a group of pigeon breeders."

I needed to know that.

The fraud allegations and summonses are fact, plain and simple. There isn't any interpretation or speculation happening on the wiki page. Isn't there some kind of wikipedia moderator who can have the page locked so as to prevent any changes to it?

That being said, I'll keep an eye out for any changes as well!

Yes, Wikipedia does have a moderator who will check up on things and lock it if an editing war breaks out. Keep changing it back until the moderator gets to it. Good luck!

The fraud charges are gone again. Someone with an account, please restore it.

I really don't think most current events belong in a Wikipedia entry. I think the commenters on the Talk page have a good point, let's wait and see if this becomes a significant and defining event for Monson. It can always be added later if something comes of all this.

"On [date] in [court], Monson was issued a summons. The contentions were [ ]. " Then you add the outcome. Were the charges dropped? Did he fail to appear and was found guilty in absentia? Did he appear and was found not guilty?

You don't have to wait for the outcome to report what is happening now.

The way this story has been reported so far, there seems to be a general impression that the complaint is frivolous and baseless. I'm not saying I think it is frivolous (because I don't), or that it will go nowhere (though I'm not entirely convinced it will) but I can see why the Wikipedia moderators would be wary about posting details about every lawsuit ever filed against a public figure, until it becomes apparent whether there's substance to them or not.

The talk page says the wiki policy is not to mention frivolous "lawsuits" aganist a living person.

However this is NOT a "lawsuit" it is a criminal investigation.

To remove something from wiki I thought you had to say something like "unreliable source".

There is evidence of a summons (2 in fact) being issued alleging criminal acts of fraud, signed by a UK District Judge. How is that unreliable?

They can continue to remove it if they want, but eventually it will go on there permanently. It is a fact of history. It is not a frivolous law suit, it is a criminal investigation, as baura points out. A lot of people don't understand that just yet, but they will soon.
