Umm Bonneville Holding company lost $129,000 last year?

https://bulk.resource.org/irs.gov/eo/2013_09_T/74-2368286_990T_201212.pdf

and this is an "exempt" company? I thought this was the for profit part of LDS Inc. This is starting to smell really bad.

Perhaps the membership should be asking where all the money is going...

City Creek lost $704K on a 100 million dollar business?!

There is a giant sucking sound somewhere. Eyebrows should be raising..

It is time for the US taxpayer to stop subsidizing these con men.

Notice on page 5, $708K in parking expenses? They would have been in the black except for parking?! These people belong in jail!

...found this interesting from the IRS website regarding the "so-called" tax status of these satellite operations;

7.26.2.2 (03-30-1999)
IRC 170(b)(1)(A)(i) Exclusion—Church, or Convention or Association of Churches

The IRC 170(b)(1)(A)(i) exclusion covers a "church" or a "convention or association of churches."

Few terms in the Code have proven as difficult to define, and as fraught with controversy, given the First Amendment’s prohibition against government establishment of a religion or interference with the free exercise of religion.

...you know, after wading knee-deep in that IRS legalese, why not JUST TAX THESE FOOLS LIKE EVERYONE ELSE!!!!!!

...religious exemptions be damned.

The tax losses from religious exemptions have got to be squelched. I pay property taxes while a local franchise church with six times as much land pays none. Churches collect money the same as any other business.

Of course they are a business that should be taxed.

These numbers are way, way out of whack for businesses of this size.

Money is being laundered and cash is going to unknown persons.

We need IRS agents to storm the COB.

Ha ha that would turn into a nightmare. I know why the IRS wont. Because the IRS and Federal Income tax are just as much of a fruad and unconstitutional as mormonism. Church probably knows that to. A lot of Mormons are very well aware of the whole IRS situation. I k ow of individuals who own a business and have not paid federal income tax for more then ten years. But you have to make sure your not doing absolutely anything illegal or they screw you that way. So thats why the IRS leaves religions alone.

**** "But you have to make sure your not doing absolutely anything illegal or they screw you that way. "

Gives a whole new angle for the need to defend against allegations of fraud.

Guess they should have been open with their books. Karma can be a real bitch.

The church itself (the corp of Tommy) does not have to file a 990. The returns linked are different trust accounts/entities. Just because they had more money come out than go in doesn't necessarily mean much. Depends on how and when transactions occurred.

Technically, the 990s and 5500s are available to the public. There are laws about how they have to provide copies if you ask by mail. But the ones online can be hard to get to if you don't pay to be a user of the sites that house them. You may get a better picture of LDS, inc wealth from the 5500s for their benefits plans, especially pension. I think it is Deseret Mutual Benefits Assn or something like that.
