gotta keep the flock in line when they start to think, as all adults should think, they can lead their own lives according to the dictates of their own conscience, and not the commandments of a phantom god and his male, conservative reps.

"our brand is the only brand worth buying!" the church can have that advertising slogan if they want. may be a bit too transparent for them.

a grab for relevancy in an era where more people, enabled by technology and other things, seek fulfillment and satisfaction elsewhere, beyond the church's grasp.

oaks was reminding people the mo' church has the correct priesthood, and that's why they can't stray.

The reference to Martin Luther, a movement against Catholicism made possible by a new technology, only solidifies in my mind that the Internet is to Mormonism as the printing press was to Catholicism.

People who can think read and write for themselves are a danger to any organization that attempts to monopolize truth.

Thats a perfect analogy. Taken further, the Mormon church is doing a very similar thing as the catholic church in Luther's day: Selling salvation for money. Pay your tithing=temple recommend=your ticket to the celestial kingdom. Don't pay your tithing=no admittance to the temple=no admission to the CK. Therefore, no tithing=no admission to the CK.
