OMG...

Today I went out for lunch with a friend and I had my most favourite sandwich - a Reuben and a beer I see mentioned here a lot - Sierra Nevada Pale Ale (ok 2 of those beers).

I am still in culinary heaven... thank you RfM for introducing me to that beer!

What's your beer and sammich fav?

I like many different kinds of beers... Probably among my favorites are Franziskaner, Hacker-Pschorr, Paulaner, Chimay Blue, and Kriek. But really, as long as it's a quality brew and not a mass produced watery American piss beer, I'll probably like it... though I'm actually not that fond of English ales. I really like wheat beers and interesting Belgian brews.

As for sandwiches, it just depends on my mood.

I rather like English ales. I lived in England for a few years and got use to them... even the ones served 'warm' down at the pub.

I agree with the 'a mass produced watery American piss beer' - ick! Lots of mass produced watery Canadian (moose) piss beer too!

I lived in England too, but was much too young to drink at the time. My husband and I visited a couple of years ago and I couldn't get into the ales. They were a little too bitter for my liking. But I like so many other beers, I don't miss 'em that much.

Oh man, the Reuben is a fine sandwich.

As for beers, I like pale ales fine, but I tend to prefer darker.

Sierra Nevada is one of the best beers I have drunk.

Drunk way too many of them last September in Santa Clara! ;oD

Sierra Nevada is brewed in Chico, CA. They employ students from Chico State University. Chico is a widely known party school in NorCal. I love all their beers, especially their seasonal ones!

A match made in Heaven.

Of course, the Alesmith can be tough to find, so Lost Coast Downtown Brown is a great substitute.
