Just wondering if anyone else is old enough to remember Paul Henderson's amazing goal 40 years ago today that cinched the Canada/Soviet series?

Happy anniversary Paul, Frank Mahovlich, Stan Mikita, Phil Esposito, etc!

Grade 8, 13 years old in Kamloops BC, the school set up tv's in the gym and we were allowed to leave class to watch the game. seems to me the games started at 9 or 10 a.m. MST.

That's a great story, one I hadn't heard before.

Yes, I was 25 and working at the local TV station that day and the control room was packed with all the staff on hand. I remember we were all pretty nervous about the Russians beating us and that goal was amazing! And Paul still isn't in the hockey hall of fame?? I know it doesn't register with most Americans (if any) but it was a monumental moment for Canada.

pro hockey fans might have some extra time to reminisce about such times.

Even in the states, it would be difficult to follow hockey and not know about Henderson and the Summit Series.

It was a defining moment in Canadian history.
