As a youtube junkie, I knew I'd seen this gem from Hinkley. Don't be deterred by the spanish title. The whole video is great, but the snip I was looking for is at 6:30. I love Mike Wallace. Hinkley says men are in charge in the Mormon church. Wallace says, "Why?" Perfect question. The video talks about the second coming in Missouri and many other Mormon oddities.

Orrin Hatch : "we believe that we know."

We're pretty sure that we think that we believe that we know. But the stats aren't in yet, and the board has not reached a decision.

I escaped before GBH so never worshipped him.

In this interview, Mr. Hinkley seems just a little demented.
Not a lot, but a little.
Not criticism; just what I see.
Probably the stress of being on camera.
Or perhaps it is that being perpetually surrounded by obedients ill prepares one for a potentially frank interview.

This snippet of history is a fixed point from which one can measure the rather profound institutional contortions that have since occurred.
