"Porn definitely has influenced how people engage in sex. The industry has at times turned sex into an Olympic-style/CrossFit marathon of trying to knock the other person into the next “dry county”. What has been lost is the intimacy, the fun, the attraction, the exploration of a new partner or pleasing a partner in a new way. They need to know sex isn’t all about that."

try Gail Dines' "Pornland: How Porn Has Hijacked Our Sexuality":

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/gail-dines/adventures-in-pornland_b_636381.html

The Media Education Foundation has recently advertised an hour-long documentary by Dines about this (previewing available), which is where I learned about it. Sure enough--from what the women on cams say, from what the men say to their 'partners,' from the invasive, manipulative, and dominating scenarios...it's inescapable: women in porn are treated subhumanly. And conversely, porn portrays male fantasies as naturally, and normally, callous, exploitative, and disrespectfully self-centered. Porn caters to and expounds the male id...and what sane person really wants that to rule the world?

It's easy to say, well, there are other more egalitarian versions of porn online, but things have become commodified so quickly that it's scary to see the youngest women adopting this "male line," like that's going to get them attention and popularity. Even the women have been pressed into thinking that's what men want.

During the 80s the gays I was around used "Educational Videos" as a euphemism for gay porn. I would always reply that I hated when gays used those vids to learn how to have sex, because the sex was never any good. I could tell because porn positions are meant to look good for the watcher, not feel good for the participants. So when I guy used porn positions, I knew they learned from watching porn and not from being intimate with their partners.

Also, I have had sex with some gay porn stars. The fantasy about the porn model was always better. I think porn is viewed differently in the gay community.
