Today in the local UU church it was the blessing of the animals Sunday. The sanctuary was filled with dogs and cats. Our postlude music was the piano jazz tune "Linus and Lucy" from the Peanuts cartoon. Suck it, Mormons!

Were there 'snacks' for the newly blessed after the meeting?

Any shotgun weddings necessary?

I love services that are devoted to blessing the animals. What fun for one and all!

I was married in the Phoenix UU Church many years ago.

More recently we attended the UU Church near us in CA for 7 years. I loved the music and the sermons, also the coffee time after. It was nice to have a lovely one hour service, see friends, and go out to lunch after.

My Episcopal church did that back on the 3rd, though we do it as a separate service after the main one. It's hands-down my favorite service of the year. Even my cat was surprisingly (knowing her) chill, and the dogs were remarkably well-behaved.

I like UUs hugely, and was one for a while. I'm glad to see the animal blessing idea adopted; it seems natural for them!
