Gordon Smith was defeated in 2008. As an Oregonian, I don't give a rat's patootie where he works now.

Yes, they should be concerned. Because the Mormon Political Manifesto states that the leadership can't run for political office. Yet, what difference does it make if they're the ones pulling the puppet strings on the Governors, Senators, Representative????

Also, what was with them asking about the Republican Party??? They're not supposed to give financially or publically back any party???

What did they call Democrats? Miscreants?

And they flat out admitted that passing Proposition 8 was the work of the Church. They were talking about needing to get YSAs involved and I think it was Ballard who said he got a letter from a girl who had been inactive until she was asked to work on the Prop 8 thing. She wrote a letter to someone saying how she finally felt needed and how that got her back active in the church. Then he said, "We need to make sure we are getting YSAs involved in the work of the church like this."

It was shocking to hear the slimy Senator Gordon Smith (yes, slimeball, if you're googling yourself--we're talking about you) say outright that he voted for the Iraq war (i.e. he voted for the deaths of many many people) to open it up for mormonism. Even though we have known they had people like Orrin Hatch in their pockets and a majority of the state politicians in Utah, this Smith guy was so unapologetic about using he political position solely to be a puppet for the church.
