This time in the Midwest.
Downtown Indy ward closed and assimilated into three suburban wards.
Of course it was all portrayed as the church moving forward.

Just an fyi for the interested.

The new temple there is indeed bringing many blessings to the membership! /s

I notice that endowment sessions there are now "by appointment only."

I take the closing of church units with a grain of salt. Often they just about demographic shifts. Mormons move from here to there -- usually farther out into the 'burbs. Or back to Zion.

Is it just me or is it craziness that a brand new temple is by appointment only? Why even bother? Blows my mind.

I'm pretty sure that the Preston/Chorley temple in England was also working to an appointment only schedule, within a couple of years of opening.

I definitely remember announcements in my branch, practically demanding that we used it more, as some sessions were going ahead with just a handful of temple workers.

Maybe the British isles didn't really need a second temple after all?

They were even considering building a 3rd temple in the UK in the late 90's. They were scouting for land around Edinburgh to build a Scottish Temple.

That's one less bishop or BP to neglect his family. Praise Jebus
