Probably for the same reason I am: it makes no sense that he is a somewhat practicing member of the church.

I kinda get that. My dad and mom never told me I had to read the BofM or the other stuff or that I had to go on a mission....so I did neither. They respected my choices but unlike Robert I never found myself in the cult....just a burning desire to ignore it and walk away.
