I had my name removed from the church several years ago, and I no longer have my patriarchal blessing. I would like to obtain a copy to share with my husband and keep for posterity as a family record. Is it possible to receive another copy once your name has been removed?

Odds are they would be punitive, and tell you that as a non-member, you are not worthy to receive that holy document.

It's such a farce! You're name and membership number are still in the computer. They can find you as quick as they can hit 'enter', but they'll see that you resigned and they do have some basis for thinking that you don't want the PB for any 'authorized' reason.

But it won't hurt to ask! Call the COB and explain your situation and then report back.

If that doesn’t work, go to a psychic. You’ll probably get a better reading.

Should I contact the church offices in Utah or my local bishop?

Call the COB, would be my advice. I don't see contacting the bishop as being at all useful. He would have to be quite the exception to the rule to help you.

I contacted the COB and the rep informed me that my LDS online account is still active, and I can request my blessing through my portal. Of course it required me to update my demographics first, but I submitted my request and should receive it soon. Thanks!

How fun! Let me know if my name is mentioned in your PB!

If they won't, see if a relative can get it.

Someone else in your family who's a TBM may be able to get you a copy. Not sure how that works. I didn't know they weren't available upon request.

I still have mine from when I turned 12 years old.

You can have mine. It was so generic it would work for anyone anyway.

Just make a request for a copy. If they say anything, tell them you think you made a mistake. They will see that as your hard heart being softened not as the mistake being Mormon in the first place.

Besides this is a good chance to see how thorough their record keeping is and if you indeed ended up in the dead end file.
