Saturday my wife and I went to the wedding reception which was a cross between a stake dance and a ward party for the Mormon kid across the way. It is a classic story of younger girl dating in high school an older boy who are in the same ward. I hope she eventually gets into college somehow. Not much family pressure in that department but I digress.

My wife comes home from church yesterday and said someone got up and thanks the families for funding the ward party on Saturday.

I laughed out loud!

I love it, they used their testimony to thank another member!

I think they were trying to rib the parents of these kids. I will ask my wife if she think they meant it as funny. We both found it hilarious because it was supposed to celebrate the union of the two and wound up being just an excuse for a ward party. Our neighbor talked this event up as being "huuuuge" and it wasn't even as great as some of their ward parties.

Just curious: age of bride and groom, and town if you can so provide?

bride = 19, groom = 21, Midwest town.

21 & 19 is a bit on the young side, but if they're mature, their relationship has had a year or two, and there are sufficient resources, it can work. Hope so.

They aren't mature at all. The bride has told my daughter she wants to have babies as soon as possible. He is more mature in his goals but in his social skills he ranks about at severe introvert. Maybe he is mature but I've no idea.

I believe she is escaping her overbearing and controlling parents to be honest. She gets along better with kids 2-3 years younger than her than kids her own age.

A couple here decided to not hold a wedding reception in the cultural hall stating that it would be too expensive to host. A sheet cake and some punch from Walmart would not be that expensive!

Their temple wedding was closed except for close friends and PH hierarchy.

You are dangerously close to calling it on their reception.

Proving once again that minor, trivial events can inspire & enlighten Mormons unless there's a brawl or gunfire.

However, If the building caught a-fire, that might be a bad sign...
