Hence my appreciation of the early refreshments.

The SUEPMA (I just made that up) is wonderful, and very appropriate for questioning Mormons. They can show up, sit down, listen, and leave, all without saying a word, or they can stay and chat. The organization of the meeting is excellent: keynote speakers, PowerPoint presentations, flannel boards (hehe), a peanut gallery, etc. I suppose the topic of the day will be John Dehlin, who seems to be famous in postmo circles. I hear he does some sort of podcast.

All in all, it's a very well-structured event. If your exit was gentle, if your exit is a blip on the horizon, if you think the resources of the cult can be redirected for good, or if you like cake, this is a wonderful place to be on a Sunday afternoon. If your family just disowned you for being gay, you'd be more interested in meeting people afterwards to find a recovery group. If your recovery is nearly over and you want to socialize with escapees without discussing the cult, this is not the best place.
