Our letters arrived today from membership records! The letters state that our names have been removed and that if we wish to become members in the future, our bishop's will be pleased to help. This is such a relief to know we're no longer members. Much thanks to all of you on RfM; you're advice and comments have been so helpful and supportive!

I believe I am doing a real and measurable service to my parents by showing them that life is better outside of a cult. I love and respect my parents for the many good things they have done for me, but pretending to still be a part of a cult really says to them that their actions really had no negative effect on me. No harm, no foul.

I would have lived my life quite differently if my parents had given me complete religious freedom and exerted no pressure.

Congrats!! One benefit is that no one will ever call you "sister valkyriequeen" ever again. Lies from 200 years ago no longer have any impact on you life. It still makes my head spin to think how some 1800s swindler stole so much of my life from me.

So if someone quits the church and wants to rejoin must they be rebaptized or how does that work?

I don't know their process. I've heard of excommunicated people coming back, but I've never heard of a person coming back who resigned.

I'm sure it has happened. Has anyone known someone who went back after resigning?

The mormon ghawd has revealed the computer process that must be followed when an errant ex-member finally battles through the miasma of deceit propagated by el diablito, Lucifer and returns to the fold. There are categories (There are ALWAYS categories!) that require different levels of review, up to and including review by the big 15, Los Afossiles de pegar a dios padre con un palo.

But always remember, ghawd frequently changes his mind, so everything has to be considered to have been written in sand(skrit). The only thing that doesn't change is that everything can change. When you think of ghawd, picture the bugger as a sea of sand dunes.

I was just checking the board and this made me laugh: 'The only thing that doesn't change is that everything can change.'
