For added context, here is the statue of Winged Victory that adorns the Arizona state capitol building:

Thank you again, Steve.
At times like these, I find images more compelling than words.

Oh wow, thanks for the context. Even all the more beautiful

Thanks Steve. This is a difficult day for us Arizonans, even us Flagstaffarians.

Kind thoughts for all of you in AZ, no matter what part. It was nice to learn about how much he loved your, and his, state.

Hippie: "What was your opinion of Woodstock?"
McCain: "I didn't go. I was tied up at the time."

He's coming "home" to Annapolis for his burial. All of his surviving classmates of the Naval Academy class of '58 are invited to his memorial service at the Naval Academy chapel, which is a lovely, dignified house of worship (John Paul Jones, "the father of the U.S. Navy," is buried in a rather spectacular crypt below the chapel.) Current midshipmen are invited as well. I believe it will be an overflow crowd. He will then be carried by caisson and laid to rest at the Naval Academy cemetery overlooking the Severn River, which is a tributary of the Chesapeake Bay. It is an absolutely beautiful, quiet, restful spot, and a very fitting place for his burial. He will be buried next to his good friend, Admiral Charles "Chuck" Larson, a former Naval Academy superintendent.

It would not surprise me at all if he gets a "missing man" Navy jet flyover from pilots out of Pax River.

Thanks for the description, Summer. I know the burial will be private, but it's nice to have an idea of what his final resting place will be like.

I didn't know his mother was still alive.

She's attending his funeral today. Still kicking at 106. Parents aren't supposed to bury their children, no matter their age.

I just had the privilege of watching Navy jets flying the "missing man" formation over the Severn River bridge in Annapolis. I was crossing the bridge on my way to my weekend destination, when I looked up in front of me to see three jets screaming overhead. I swung my head to the left to see the fourth jet, which had peeled off, continuing its lonely journey up the Severn River. Fair winds and following seas, Senator.

What on earth Steve? You did it again! Absolutely perfect!
An awesome, emotional tribute to Senator McCain.
Thank you!
