If the former bishop has not recieved word of his church court decision, can that be a delay tactic to pacify media attention on his trial for asking church youth interviews be changed to not ask explicit sexual questions to teenagers?

There was a guy by the name of Murphy who wrote a book challenging the authenticity of the Book of Mormon. His excommunication trial was postponed and abandoned because peopel all over the country held a candlelight vigil for him.The media attention spooked church leaders and they postponed his church trial.

When excommunicated, they send you a certified letter so they have proof you know you were excommunicated. If you read the letter, they have not stated it was in fact against his stand on children interviews. The commitee, having been made aware of Sam Young, easily picked from his blog posts he made that they could excommunicate him for.

The war is about blogs. Public blogs. It doesnt matter what the subject matter is. If its a blog and its not positive towards the church then they go after you. You may have constitutional rights towards having a newspaper, radio show, blog, whatever but the committee on strengthening members if you gain readership, will get you exd.

High profile excommunications have been postponed before to avoid bad press.

The law of the land is: Freedom of Speech as well as the Press.

I thought one of the tenants of the Church is: We believe in Honoring, Obeying, and Sustaining the law.

How can they excommunicate someone for speaking their mind without violating civil law????

Is this not Hypocrisy?

And does that not show that their tenants mean nothing???

And if their tenants mean nothing does that not show this Church mean nothing as well???

The Constitution only prevents government from prohibiting and punishing your free speech, although there some exemptions to that. Private and religious organizations are free to attempt to quiet you all they want, particularly if it is in their forum you are doing their speaking. A church is fully allowed to set conditions for its membership, including what you can publicly say, and is free to expel those who do not meet those conditions. Sam Young cannot be criminally punished by the government for what he said, nor can he be civilly punished if it is an opinion or he has valid reason or evidence to support his claims.

one of the tenets of free speech is NOT having to be a platform for speech / ideology that any entity objects to or opposes, it is also the reason that a person can not be compelled to testify against them self

Yah, when it suits them !!! Otherwise, that is just one more thing that MORmONISM LIES about.

> How can they (LD$ Inc) excommunicate someone for speaking

A. Because LD$ Inc is a private institution, so they can retain or reject whoever they want to, for whatever reason, no matter how contrived

B. The ONLY principle that MORmONISM has EVER really stood for is the principle of privilege, those in charge can do whatever the Hell they want to!!!

How Catholic the Ziontologists are!

I noted that this summary was obviously intended to go to someone with authority to direct the writer(s)... Was it senior counsel or was it a GA? (ZA?)

Who gets to ask of ghawd, who giveth liberally and upbraidth not?

In our peculiar wondrous gospel we have learned that the First Law of Heaven is Obedience. And according to the Correlation program this means Obedience to the Brethren and the glorious blessing we have with the holy middlemen they appoint to sacredly micromanage our lives at the Ward/Branch, Stake/Mission, etc. levels and remind us that this life is to be one of great trials/tribulations in hopes that someday if we are good that we'll get to spend all of eternity 24/7 answering billions of prayers every hour instead of being lovingly thrown into a lake of fire/brimstone by our loving Heavenly Father. The Correlation program doesn't teach us that Protecting Children matters as much so its easy to see why this Bishop will now be headed to fire/brimstone for all eternity because he dared consider the needs of children instead of just focusing on following the holy whims of our super beloved Brethren. Sure when we sacredly harass people through ministering and missionary work to get them all assimilated into thinking the Correlation-approved way we might talk about children as a means to better prepare people to make commitments to assimilate. But we always remember what the First Law is as we are well-indoctrinated to never think any other way as such thoughts are sinful Doubts and the mighty German apostle has told us to "doubt our doubts" :)
