We do not give you dogmatic answers; we explore the questions with you.
We do not label you; we accept you as you are.
We do not say which path is right; we bear sacred witness to your journey.
We do not indoctrinate you; we teach you to love yourself and others.
Welcome to your spiritual home. Welcome to (xxxxx).

I feel like the Unitarians come pretty close to that. At least in my experience with them.

Unity

IDK how it is that they call themselves a church or faith or (?), but I'm gonna find out!!

I attended U-U once in Toledo, it bland yet offensive to hear the minister / preacher rant about Christ.

Unity was founded in 1889, and the name they chose for themselves was Unity School of Christianity--a new,"New Thought," Christian denomination.

I just checked, and they are now identifying themselves as Unity Church (something completely new to me; I don't know when the change was made), and they continue to identify themselves as one of the "New Thought" groups.

As a writer of magazine articles and books, I wrote for (and in association with) them for several years. The subject of one of my first books with a mainstream publisher was Unity--and I was able to do this because I was raised Unity (simultaneously with Vedanta Hinduism--they both fit together well, and my aunt schlepped me to both until I was in high school).

The points at the top of this thread describe Unity fairly well--although when I was a young adult writing for and about them, they did have (at least up to that time) a small in the overall perspective, but unfortunately quite real, problem with racism, very likely reflective of their founders, and absolutely certainly reflective of the Missouri populace around them at their headquarters in Lee's Summit.

This problem, however, may well have become past history now.

I learned a great deal from Unity when I was growing up, and those things have stuck with me, to my great benefit.

Far beyond me personally, Unity has greatly contributed to countless people's lives, in extremely positive ways, for 129 years.

I was referring to the Unitarian Universalists, I don't know if they are associated with the Unity Church, I have not heard of them.

The UU congregation I attened (periodically at best) is a pretty accepting group. Good music too. Also, you can wear whatever you want and drink wine during the service.

The Unitarian Universalist church was founded in 1774 in London, while Unity School of Christianity was founded in 1889 in Missouri.

I can't get the link on the differences between the two to work, but if you Google:

difference between unity church and unitarian universalist church

the first return will have a link which works.

You will be looking for "www.unityofwimberley.com"--but use the link provided by Google, because the site itself (which is a Unity church in Wimberly, Texas) is difficult to use without the direct link from Google.

Simple Mormonism:

~ When the prophet speaks the thinking has been done.

~ Pray, pay & obey.

~ That question is not important for your salvation.

~ Wear your sacred underwear 24 hours a day.
