I've not seen anyone else mention this. I find it fascinating but I don't know any other group of people other than RfM that might also be amused by this.
South Park creator Trey Parker is well versed in Mormonism. Twelve years ago South Park used a fictional beast (ManBearPig) to mock Al Gore. The MBP represented Climate Change and it appears that 12 years ago even Parker and co creator Matt Stone were also somewhat in denial.
In this week's episode of South Park MBP was "resurrected" in something of an apology to Al Gore.
ManBearPig is such a bizarre character, EVEN FOR SOUTH PARK. Where did it come from? Remember it was originally intended as a fictional thing.
In the pre90's Mormon Temple ceremony there was also a beast intended to be fictional. It was the Protestant Minister's conception of Satan. A man with " claws like a bear’s on his hands, horns on his head, and a cloven foot, and that when he speaks he has the roar of a lion!".
Coincidence?
