As the church shrinks, less tithing is collected. The church already does not share the wealth with all its members all over the world equally (no church built mall here in AZ, yet).
So what becomes of Salt Lake? Where I assume most of the funds stay, if all of a sudden, the church dries up.

I think there will only be the GA's that are affected financially. I don't think it would dent the economy in Utah.

Edit to add, I think it would hurt Provo because of BYU. That would have a bigger affect, I think.

Everybody will have more money to spend on real goods.

If Utah were to bring in a state lottery it would be a boon to state government. It's a negative tax on the poor.

Economies have more to do with how productive the population is. Unless the people of Utah become really lazy I think the economy there will be fine. Utah will be better off than many other parts of the country.

The MONEY stays there no matter what. Rain or shine. Flood: feast or famine.

They take the money from followers so as long as there is one follower - and NO leaders - they'll follow the dollar to the collar.

Temple Square remains a big tourist and historic landmark attraction for visitors.

The corporate headquarters would remain since that's where the business holdings and enterprise takes place.
