I don't get why the Priesthood session isn't televised.
They make it sound like some sort of a special session that The Priesthood (backbone of the church) is to receive seperate and special counsel, but I have never been to one of these sessions where I heard anything (except, do missionary work, not porn) that wasn't available during the rest of the conference.

Many times we were told that we Brethren had to be there, it was imperetive and important counsel, but every time, I walked away thinking- dang! I lost another Saturday night with my wife.

And is it special or even specific to Priesthood? Not really. I mean, the whole membership and world can read it in the Ensign next month unedited. And it isn't any different than the other dozen talks.

As near as I can tell, it is en exercise in obedience for the men. Ands an opportunity to get bawled out the following Sunday in Priesthood meeting for not showing up.

No, really, the Priesthood matters are considered so sensitive that they can't allow the public to see them, least of all women. Women are not supposed to be present, and if it were televised on cable, God knows what would happen if your wife were to hear the Secret Revelations. Another reason is that they can better guilt-trip the men into attendance. They are all supposed to be there, and who would know if they attended if they were allowed to view it at home?

It was in the priesthood session that I heard Pack-man give his little factory talk, the only place that I heard other talks regarding masturbation. Since they don't print the more sensitive talks in the Ensign because they don't say things like "masturbation" in the Ensign, you have to be at the priesthood session to get the good word and learn about the "little factory."

(Note regarding priesthood sessions, just for your edification: My father-in-law, who was serving in the stake presidency back in the early 1970s, was conducting the priesthood session of stake conference. There were quite a few wives present because the stake had arranged some RS thing before, and then the women had no way to get back home. Bored, they came to the men's session. My FIL, rather than castigating them openly, merely smiled and said, "Well, it looks like the women will be getting the priesthood before the n****rs!" It got a huge laugh. And this was in Washington State, not the South.)

It's probably just to make sure the men continue having that Elitist feeling. That somehow they're superior to the rest of the world. That they have the responsibility on their shoulders of being responsible for everything.

When I worked for the Church, I quickly realized that it was a good ole boys club. The boys at the top, that is.

You are just too close to the trees. The secret is, there is no secret. They are just like the other conference sessions.

The only thing I remember from a p-hood session is "don't shoot the little birds."

If they did that, everyone who watched would be comatose! Trust me, I attended plenty of Priesthood sessions and they are so boring I'd rather spend some time in Outer Darkness. Even when I was a TBM I found them to be utter wastes of time.

Here's a revelation for you. Priesthood holders are just ordinary men, with made up titles in a bogus church. They have nothing special or spiritual to offer and never have anything new, much less interesting to talk about. Count your blessings that it is NOT televised.

Yes I know! I used to be one.
No matter how special they told me I was, priesthood meetings and especially General (and Stake) Priesthood conferences were just plain dumb.

The women who usher for conference have to actually leave the building when the Priesthood Session starts.

I swear the Gen Priesthood meetings when I was a teen lasted somewhere between 8 hours & sometimes up to three days.
It was excruciating having to sit there in one place at the stake center for hours, even days on end, listening to the GAs talk over a stupid phone line.

attend yet another BORING session of conference. I never felt slighted by not being able to have the priesthood--just seemed like a lot of work to me.

Shouldn't we all withhold the stoning in respect for the ones (or as long as there may be any such person) with tender deep real affection for the faith and the church and the leaders?

Just kidding of course... ;-)

which only priesthood holders could be trusted to know.

Priesthood conference in my experience is generally the one that does get censored before becoming public. Not much these days, but there's typically a sentence or two that gets cut out and I'm left to scratch my head.

Also it is a boys club and designed to make the men feel special and elite for having their own session. Just as the women feel the same with theirs.

My dad offered me ten dollars to go. It's not worth less than minimum wage to be bored in the time warp that lasts days with only lasting two hours in real time.

brotherhood to receive instruction from the lord's chosen. They need to get dressed up and sacrifice to get to the local club building.

Watching or listening to it at home in your underwear with the baseball game in the background would be disrespectful.

Kind of like when guys get dressed in their Sunday best to give a priesthood blessing.

Also agreeing with the elitist and misogynistic ideas already mentioned. That's where the "kicking the ladies out" fits in.

Priesthood Session in a nutshell: Don't look at porn, don't jerk off, be nice to your wife, be a good dad, honor your priesthood, blah blah blah... priesthood session was always boring and an incredible waste of time.

They have to get you into the regulation "white shirt and tie" at least once a week without fail. Otherwise, the brethren of the penishood may begin to realize what it's like to enjoy their weekends for a change.

You can watch the Priesthood Session:

You don't have to be LDS or a Priesthood holder or a Man.
