I apologize for using the board for a personal message.

cludgie, just checking if you got an e-mail from me lately (nine, ten days ago). These past months, every time I write you I always get a message back in my mailbox saying: "Vor x Tagen gesendet. Abklaeren?" Keine Ahnung warum, but I get it only when I send an e-mail to you.

Topping, because he hasn't seen it, yet.

I'm sorry, lady! I am so self-centered and self-absorbed now with my project, that I forget to look at my E-mail and RFM. I often go to bed dog-tired. I also am having some of the same familiar domestic problems. You were last to write me, and I feel guilty about every day as I go to bed and say to myself, Dommage! I forgot to write again. It sounds like an empty Trump-style promise, but I will write.

I can't explain your weird electronically produced message. Possibly it's the weirdness of the Italian provider. Chi lo sa?

Anyway, I'm as healthy as a guy my age can be, I suppose. I hope that things are going... I just hope that things are going, that the kids are okay and all that.

I'll get back.

c

Hi!!!! Just read your message now! I'm in Italy on vacation, visiting friends, beautiful as usual. I understand you are busy, I also check my mail rarely. Just know that I haven't forgotten you. Glad to know you are doing ok in spite of the usual challenges. Greetings,

I don’t know if this post means that Cludgie is in Italy. But I swear, if I could live on the Amalfi Coast, I’d live a completely analog life. For example, should one take over Gore Vidal’s old place, what need for 1s and 0s?

Bellezza!

One should live there if only one could. The Amalfi Coast is terribly expensive, and have you tried driving there? Anyway, I suggest "La Maremma," a mountainous area along the Lazio and Tuscany border in the center of Etruria. Beautiful, less expensive, scenic, friendly, and some of Italy's best food. Google the wonderful town of Pitigliano.

Take the advice of this fellow, and after arriving in those hills, slide down to old Saturnia.

The old hotel from which a copious thermal spring flows stands above a pristine valley.

At a mile below, the flow has carved huge bathtubs under waterfalls.

Germans tourists discovered the place years ago but it still remains a delight, untouched by commercialism.

It was discovered by Cinecitta in Rome and they shot scenes for a dozen movies there.

Dig mud from the upper pools and let it dry on your face. Takes 20 years or so off ya.

So, avoid this if you're not over 19...

Or TBMs could take their 34 year old wives or lovers (huh...it's Italy, so wives and/or lovers) and have the Joseph Smith Experience!

Very good to know. Thank you.

A cousin was on the Amalfi Coast for her daughter’s wedding. Pictures were stunning; the report raving. Yes, if one could one should.

(Been reading about the early New England intellectuals, Ticknor, Everett, Channing, Dwight, etc, and their ‘world’ tours, and wondered why they bothered coming back to Boston.)
