Great article. I am not surprised that violations have been overlooked by the state's water agency.

My scout camp was closed down after water tests found algae in the water. Of course, my scout camp was not owned by the church and it was not in Utah.

I thought that you might enjoy reading the rules for the camp.

Aspencrest Camp Rules

1. Campers must make a reservation prior to using the camp.

2. Families and other groups are encouraged to use the camps during times when it is not in use
by organized Church groups. Camps are scheduled giving priority to LDS Church Young
Women groups, then to other LDS Church-sponsored groups, and lastly to families and other
groups.

3. The camp may be available to families and groups for a fee based on group size and facilities
needed.

4. Families and groups not directly sponsored by a unit of the Church, who wish to use Church
recreation camps must fill out and sign the Hold Harmless Agreement.

5. All people whether or not they are members of the Church, who come to camp must observe
the Church’s standards of personal conduct as set forth in the “For the Strength of Youth”
booklet.

6. Dress and grooming should be modest, tasteful, and in keeping with LDS Church Standards.

7. Bathing suits should be one-piece or modest tankini for women and girls and loose-fitting,
boxer-type for men and boys.

8. Coffee, tea, alcohol, tobacco, and illegal drugs are prohibited.

9. Please refrain from foul language, as well as music or behavior that is not in harmony with
the respectful atmosphere that should be maintained on the property.

10. Each person who comes here should follow the highest standards of conduct—courtesy and
kindness being the hallmarks of your conduct while here.

11. Use of personal electronic devices is prohibited at Young Women Camps. This includes cell
phone, MP3, cd and dvd players. Leaders may use cell phones as needed.

12. Before departing, it is the responsibility of your group to clean all the areas you have used.
Please be courteous and clean up after yourselves, leaving the camp and facilities in as good
or better condition than you found them.

13. There may or may not be firewood at the campsite. Check with the camp manager or just
bring your own firewood. You can build fires ONLY in approved campfire rings provided by
the camp.

14. An adult must supervise the fire at all times. You should have a bucket of water next to the
fire. A shovel is also useful to have nearby.

15. Make sure fires have been completely extinguished with water and are cool to the touch—
before leaving.

16. Permission to have campfires is subject to change according to the local fire marshal’s
directive at the time. Please check with the camp manager regarding the current fire
restrictions.

17. Cutting living trees and shrubs, and destruction of any vegetation is prohibited. No graffiti,
carving or painting on the walls or trees.

18. Absolutely no fireworks are permitted at Church recreation camps, even for special events or
holidays.

19. Firearms, BB guns, paintball guns, air guns and other weapons are generally not permitted on
the properties.

20. Absolutely no hunting or trapping is permitted.

21. There are a few camps that have ranges for archery and rifle shooting. These properties
require advance permission and scheduling for you to bring these items. You must contact
the camp manager to make arrangements.

22. Generally camps are closed on Sunday unless approved by the host stake president and the
person responsible for scheduling the camp. Persons staying through Sunday are invited to
attend Church services nearby and engage only in activities that conform with the spirit of the
Sabbath.

23. Athletic fields, equipment, boats, and similar items are not to be used on Sunday.

24. Motorcycles, ATVs, dirt bikes or off-road vehicles are not permitted at camp. All motorized
vehicles must remain on designated roads and parking areas. However, many properties have
paths suitable for pedal bicycles. Check with the camp manager for details.

25. No pets are permitted at Church recreation camps, even if they stay in your vehicle.

26. No HORSES.

27. As a courtesy to other campers and neighboring residents, all campers are encouraged to be
at their campsite and observe a noise curfew from 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. For specific times
or exceptions for special events, please contact the camp manager.

The church doesn't have to divert tithing money to useless and pointless things like walls, roofs, heating, air-conditioning, sanitary water supplies and such other modern frivolities.

In short, the church did not and continues to not follow the legal laws of the land.

In addition, they have failed multiple times to understand test plans, test pilot periods, and continuing to study if their solutions are effective.

Billions of dollars in cash and none available for real engineers to fix the damn problems. Just mormon engineers and prayer.

Good grief!

Unfortunately for ordinary members, the interests and welfare of ordinary members are not included as important factors on the "benefit" side of the equation.

Start with the constantly emphasized premise that an ordinary member's virtue and righteousness is best measured by the extent of the member's constant sacrifice of individual needs and individual welfare for the good of the church organization (as defined and dictated by the elite echelon of leaders).

Add to that the constant reinforcement of the notion that righteousness means always being willing to sacrifice one's health, wealth and even life, if called upon by the "Church" (i.e. if called upon by the selfish privileged elite who pretend to be acting selflessly on behalf of a sacred abstraction that they call "the Church"). This is exemplified by the temple vows of consecration.

Then recall the stories of the handcart pioneers who are celebrated for their sacrifices and hardships, which sacrifices and hardships were in large part directly due to Brigham Young's cost-benefit analysis and calculations. Pursuant to such calculations, it was determined that Brigham Young would have much more cash to play with and use to invest in potentially lucrative business ventures, as he deemed fit, if much fewer resources than would be deemed adequate by ordinary standards would be allocated to ordinary members who had been called upon and directed to make a cross-country trip to "Zion" (aka "Utah"). The result was that the ordinary members were given a precious opportunity to prove their faith, commitment and willingness to sacrifice EVERYTHING up to and including their own lives and the lives of their children, for the purpose of serving the needs of the Church and obeying the duly anointed leaders thereof.

So...it really is laughable that anyone would think the Church would want to spend any money on providing clean water for the benefit of members participating in indoctrination programs at a church-owned campground. The whole point of the indoctrination is to convince them that they should always be focused on giving, giving and giving to the church.... Asking for the church to spend anything that would benefit them directly, personally and individually? Well, that would be extremely selfish and wicked. Ask not what the church can do for you and ask not what you can do for the church because the leaders have already told you: give all your money, time and strength until it hurts and then some.

Did the handcart pioneers have fancy schmancy water filtration equipment? Of course not! They drank water that was 3 parts deer piss, 2 parts buffalo piss, 2 parts praire dog droppings and 4 parts H20 and they thanked the Lord for this liquid refreshment and asked him to bless the bacteria so that it would strengthen and nourish their bodies.

Does anyone think that the Lard's anointed would be inclined to
waste hard-squeezed tithing moneys on something as frivolous as a clean and bacteria-free water supply for ordinary members?
