The church used to be very good at paying off victims to keep their mouths shut.

I'm curious of the 15, 20 or 35 victims/potential victims; how many were mormon?

This guy worked at a community college as a driver's ed teacher. I thought that would be a high school position?

I'd think the disclaimer at the bottom would be standardized by now. It's not like they haven't run into this before.

Well crap! I thought I was going to be the first to post something for once. I am sure this guy just loved doing closed door teen interviews. The part I find extra creepy is him filming girls doing jumping jacks.

Burdick? He must've got that moniker by banging pasture sheep and goats.

This guy is probably guilty and should face appropriate legal punishments if he is guilty. But the church appears to have removed him from both leadership positions and associations with children, before any trial. The church is responding to public pressure by capitulating as a first step. This is proof that the church will capitulate to public pressure and that the Mormon priesthood is a joke. Why didn't the church release this guy before the police and courts got involved? Gawd should have told the Stake President about this, long before the arrest. Also, based on many ex-mormon stories on this forum, child molestations are acceptable to the mormon church as long as no one but the church leaders ever find out about it. So the part of the article about the church not tolerating sexual abuse is not true except when the crime goes public. They protect the molester in secret but will throw them under the bus when their crime goes public.

The overriding goal is to protect the church from scandal. If crimes have been committed but are not publicly known, they are concealed to avoid embarrassment. But if crimes have garnered public attention, the perpetrator is denounced and all ties severed so that the church can minimize the reputational damage.

It all makes sense given the political imperative. Confusion only arises if one expects the church to act morally.

That's the perfect statement, azsteve: "They protect the molesterin secret but will throw them under the bus when their crime goes public."
It's almost the same thing with the MMM. BY promised John D. Lee that he would protect him and testify on his behalf. Instead, he let Lee be the scapegoat and be executed, all because BY wanted to be sure that neither he, nor the church would not be implicated and suffer the same consequences.
IMO, molesters should be sentenced to life in front of a firing squad.

+ there was this minor 'statehood thing' in the back of some people's minds even at that early moment; Ew-tah had to WAIT until these 'minor details' were cleared up (1896, one of the last)

Saw this on the local morning news today. He's a local creep and lives outside of Portland.

His defense will be that he was just demonstrating how to properly use left and right turn hand signals and the girls mistook the lesson for something else.

Or maybe they wore lipstick and had a shoulder bared? You know what that does to mormon men!

I like how the KGW8 article called him a Mormon bishop. Nelson should just give up his campaign to disassociate TCoJCoLDS from the word "Mormon." It a'int gonna happen.

Imagine being a teenaged girl in his office and being asked by that pig if you are chaste and morally clean. Another reason those interviews with the bishop have to stop.

Them bishops need to stop looking at porn. It’s turning them into perverts with no self control.

I wonder if he got excommunicated for it? My aunt get excommunicated for getting pregnant out of wedlock while being a student at BYU in Provo at age 19. What will the church do to this bishop? A white male in his forties with priesthood powers.

It's not so much priesthood power, it is earning power.

How can you 'muddy' something that Doesn't Exist?
