For many people the Mormon leaders are baffling. They seem so different from televangelists and megachurch preachers.

They seem so just like everyone else doing their jobs and making money their lord's way.

So when I read this article I had an aha moment.

The dude sounded so much like the soul kidnappers (taking naps) in Salt Lake City.

For instance, Mormon apostles are imprisoned with handlers, things planned for them, and less freedom than many CEOs. They have to follow their prophet and their people in such a charade of pious patriarchy. They can't retire and be paroled. They have to keep up appearances and recycling boring conference talks until they expire.

So they keep up their appearances in their prophetic prisons of perks and amenities while working their private lives like the kidnapper does his businesses. Keep them separated. And like the above kidnapper they have next to no remorse or sympathy for their followers. They are all just towing the line in a hierarchy of pious abuse with no regard for the rules of their prison. Their infractions are probably small just like the kidnapper. They might put something in a talk they shouldn't. They might take unauthorized trips to places without prior approvals from their people. But in the end they are prisoners of their own success and so disconnected to regular people and regular lives that they have no empathy for regular people.

They are angry because they are in a golden palace prison but they don't even know that they are prisoners of the Great and Spacious Building they inhabit.
