He's been through a shitstorm of a life, and exited smelling like a rose.

Love his quirky quips and quotable quotes.

Don is the manifestation of the divine (whatever that might be).

I love seeing someone come out of a deplorable situation and succeed in building a better world for himself.

I'm a fan of Don, too!

He's really great plus he makes me laugh. He's got a

great sense of humor. I hope one day he realizes what

a really good person he is.

The one that received a love letter from god. Metaphorically speaking.

So, to get back on topic.
Don has brought laughs and sunshine into my many days when I didn't feel like laughing or being all sunny.

Thanks for writing and putting yourself and your experiences out there like you do. You give hope to the hopeless.

And he's a really fine and talented story teller too!

But all seriousness aside....

I stand all amazed and a bit jealous that my old man was long of temper despite his Smith legacy to me, he up and died when I was young leaving me to my own devices.

I shudder to think where I might be if my old man had treated me in Bagley-esque fashion.

Yet we are met here today on a great battlefield of a great and generally uncivil war and thereby notwithstanding I must salute this man who posseseth word smithing skills that I can only dream of.

I loved your positive words in the closed post Don.

I've got an idea...

There is a rather contrary set of posts that indicate that the originator of the words in those posts come from an idea that needs a hug.

Edit for the idea that can't see itself: the idea I mention uses two capital letters as a handle...

Interesting, but I, for myself, was not talking about the person, only the idea. The OP may or may not need a hug, I see no reason to assume they need a hug or not in order to be critical of what I consider a very bad idea.

I also wonder why so many here make assumptions about other people.

At the risk of inserting yet another uninvited opinion, I would say, MJ, that Don did not give any credit to his "imaginary god." His "imaginary god" was only pointing out to him that his circumstances in life have changed for the better. Moreover, his "imaginary god" was not even taking credit for it!

Don was, in my opinion, rightly giving gratitude where credit is due: to the "community of vibrant people" who "say kind things" and "they don't try to hurt you for their own amusement."

Would it hurt you so much to try to also say "kind things" in the spirit of which the post was given?

Well I'm all done with assumptions about you after your prolific pustulent posts today MJ.

Methinks you wouldn't know a well intentioned hug from a chokehold.

I'm sure God would love you if only He existed.........

Personally I have never minded personal attacks.

Pointing them out has always proved less than fulfilling, speaking personally of course .

Well I dunno about no god/atheism.

But I do believe in angels.

Who wouldda thunk there's an angel named maude?

A Mod by any other name ....

is still hallowed. :o)

No hijacking here either. This too is not a debate thread about god/atheism.

as hijacking.

From the guidelines:

"This site is Christian-friendly. It is not, however, Christian-safe. Do not assume that everyone here will share your beliefs; other posters can and will disagree with and challenge what you say. If you decide that you need a site that is Christian-safe as well, we can recommend some places."

Though this is not about Christianity, is this a place where people can make claims about what god would say without people disagreeing with such claims?

As for hijacking, I was not the one calling people "ass holes". I never made a personal attack while others clearly attacked me personally. Is this the new standard? Claims about what god would say can not be disagreed with and if you do personal attacks are OK? If this is the new norm, please update your guidelines. And let me know, I would be out of here.

I used to think I was witty.

Don has caused me many moments of spontaneous mirth many times during a day after reading one or more of his posts. My wife just looks at me funny. I wish I could explain...
