For some unk. reason, I'm now thinking of a couple of examples of the removal of images of women's breasts from popular usage, one literature (a cartoon), one corporate.

How many can guess which these & others were?

maybe i'm way off, but one place that is seriously censored about body parts is young adult fiction. I'm thinking of the Harry Potter series. I read it a few years ago and JK Rolling spends a lot of time in those books talking about "Harry's feelings". Then in the later books she spends way too much time talking about Harry's feelings about Chow, his youthful live interest. But she doesn't really explain clearly what male teenage lust is like.

But of course it's coming from a middle age British women who doesn't have any idea what life is like as a teenage boy with hormones.

What else is censored?

That must be why Donald Duck had a top but no pants. ;-)

I was reflecting ('thinking' for some, ja ja) of the mermaid on the original Starbucks logo, she used to have breasts/nipples;

also:

the gal figure on the 'Love Is' 'toon used to have breasts.


in other news, in Seattle, troglodytes complained the a building within sight of I-5 southbound displayed the temperature in Celsius (centigrade) along with Fahrenheit...


So I guess this thread is more about 'dumbing down' than modesty.
