I have not heard of there being one since I was a teenager back in the 1980s. My kids have never even heard of them, and my two oldest are in their 20s.
Gold and Green Balls are no longer held because LaVonda and the other girls were wearing skirts the were too short and were dancing too close to those boys. Now the Mormons periodically hold 'Stake Dances'. The youth have to have a dance card signed by their bishop to attend. That gives the bishop a chance to explain the dance rules and of course to ask any other questions he feels inspired to ask. These stake dances are adequately chaperoned by Pharisee Mormons to make sure the youth behave and don't have too much fun
the name "Pharisee Mormon" is relatively new and may be unfamiliar to some of the readers;
these people used to be known as 'Nazi-Mos' or "Nazi-Mormons", but someone up at PR woke up & determined that the real Mormon Nazis were offended by a dilution of their identity, so they changed it to 'Pharisee Mormon'.
