This is so horrific. A craft group I belong to has gotten hand sewn, knitted and crocheted items from all over the world. They have gotten so much they have asked everyone to put a hold on for now. What they really need now is money for medical supplies and food drops. There are a lot of scams out there but this is a legit place to donate. https://www.wires.org.au/

Right now I am waiting to hear the identity of the three men that were in the plane that went down yesterday while dropping water. We know they were American and the plane was from my area so I am worried the men were too :(

Per KTLA5 News, three firefighters were killed. Names were not listed, only that they were in their 40s.

Hi Beth - thanks for the shout out!

Yes bad news yesterday when three visiting US firefighters died when their water tanker plane crashed. Their sacrifice will not be forgotten.

Fires have come back after a short break for hailstorms and floods in some areas. Hopefully no more really serious events, but still plenty of bad fire days ahead.

Good news is that the pre-conditions for drought appear to have changed, so that rainfall soon is now more likely.

In the longer term, the politics has begun to change, and the momentum for real action worldwide is building slowly.

On the west coast, where I live, we have had a lovely summer, but each year the heat and the lower rainfall brings more stress on the trees and crops, and we have seen some of that.
