No, Google is a sinister company which acts as gatekeeper to the internet, decides what people.see and spies on them.

Wow. That sounds Orwellian.

But then you think 1984 was about the USSR, don't you.

Nah, that's not *mormon* Melchizedek. That's Glowing Melchizedek.

This Melchizedek was in the Church News!

I couldn't remember having seen any "back in the day" when the subject came up a week ago on fb. I was the resident Mormon expert and drew a blank.

I hung out here on the recovery board in the early 2000s.

Exmo status made official in '07.

We don't do Mormon stuff. Try the internet. Hope this helps. If not, reply, and more help will be summoned.

"We don't do Mormon stuff."

Is that "the royal we", or have you decided you get to speak for all of us?

Strangely I don't remember seeing any paintings of Melchizedek. Somewhat like Enoch he is much discussed, but little represented in LDS artwork.

no recollection of ever having seen a representation of our beloved priesthood's namesake. Plenty of images of fictional characters from the BoM and plenty of pics of Joe Smith and embodied God and Jesus but none of Melchizedek. logged way off found a painting in Church News (laying on hands, of course). That's the first LDS Melchizedek I ever laid eyes on. There are plenty of non-LDS images of our priesthood's namesake.

P.S. Google is friend to no one. Haven't used it in years. Tried to buy into the IPO when it launched, before it was so obviously evil, but that was only for the elites to buy into. No access for this prole. That was around the time the tech bubble burst and there were plenty of crap IPOs I had access to but didn't buy. Want nothing to do with google now.

One who doesn't exist is hard to picture.

You're not much of an art fan, I take it.

I don't know about pictures of the guy but I do want to point out that the Mormon tradition says that Melchizedek was Shem, the son of Noah.

Here's an essay on the LDS website that discusses this:

https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/ensign/1973/11/i-have-a-question/is-it-possible-that-shem-and-melchizedek-are-the-same-person

This belief is actually very problematic for the church, however, because it reveals how absurd the idea of Abraham in Egypt is.

Mormons believe in a global flood that Noah survived, and that one of his granddaughters(Egypt us) started Egypt. But the archeological evidence is 100% clear that the civilization of Egypt existed for much longer than the relatively short genealogy given in the Book of Abraham.

You can imagine all the missing scrolls, secret Mormon Egyptian cyphers, and divine deception of Joseph that you want, but the story of the BOA is its own counterargument when compared with the 100% truth of the archeological record.

It was one of those weird things about Mormonism -- "Melchizedek priesthood." I mean, who the blue f--- was Melchizedek?! If we're going to be "blessed" with the guy's priesthood, we should have a crystal clear idea of who he was and why it's called that.

Also could be quite the contrary... Maybe Joseph figured a more mythological character would be smarter to create myths about... Not that the whole of mormonism isn't yarns, myths, figurative characters, and other types of superstitious creations.
