Now that I think of it, I don't either. I wonder when that happened. Probably when I turned 40 and music got bad.

If you were 300 years old you would not think music ever got bad.

The picture would be still clearer if the study went back to the 1930s or 1920s and captured the emergence and articulation of jazz, that very possibly sole lasting American contribution to global culture.

Me too, Dave.

I liked his music but not the person so much now.

I fear the whole state of Kentucky might soon be dead to me at the rate things are going. :-/

It's one thing to respect the values of others. It's quite another when those values endanger others.

Aw, c'mon!

"The Brown Eyed Girl songwriter said Andrew Lloyd Webber appeared to be the only other person in the music business trying to get it back up and running."

He's gone nuts, hasn't he?

For the record, I take all my direction in politics, my beliefs in philosophy and my instruction in religion from celebrities.

Some of these people have degrees from Beverly High.

Is someone casting aspersions at Beverly Hills High School?

The only high school I know of that has a working oil field on its school property? (A significant source of extra money, which I understand has always been spent well to provide options for students that other school districts just cannot afford.)

Seriously: kids (any juvenile who lives within the school district boundaries) can get a really excellent [public school] education at BHHS--and the possible contacts (parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, etc. of fellow BHHS students) can be outstanding.

I am very grateful for the really excellent 1st-12th grade education I received at LAUSD schools, but everyone around here knows that, if you go to Beverly Hills schools, there are always plenty of impressive "extras" available which there is no way LAUSD could provide.

I have said it before and I will say it again: Anthony Hopkins once said the only time you should listen to an actor is when he is speaking someone else's words.

Van Morrison is 75 years old. His net worth is estimated in the tens of millions, and could be up to $90 million dollars. Perhaps he can distribute his excess net worth to all of the musicians that he purports to care about.
