Imagine, if you will, an alien organisation based on Earth that uses religion to provide host bodies for their incorporeal offspring to experience material existence during their childhood and adolescence before returning to an incorporeal state.

If you are thinking you've seen this movie before, you have.

Think "Trelane" from Star Trek.

If any of it were true, Earth and other planets could only be playgrounds for Kolobian kids and possessing human bodies would only be VR video game style role-playing entertainment.

The title of this post lead me to believe you were talking about the temple endowment movie. Dark science fiction comedy. How does that not fit?

"Elohim, King of Kolob" goes right along with Zsa Zsa Gabor's "Queen of Outer Space" from 1958. Only Zsa Zsa's dialogue was less corny. A lot less corny.

Oh wow. I didn't know Zsa Zsa Gabor's "Queen of Outer Space", but I've just seen the trailer. That is high culture. Or perhaps you have to be high to fully appreciate it. Just wow!

It's sad that movies have plummeted so far since then in quality from that pinnacle of great story telling and deep content, well, except for the Temple Movie. That really should be in theaters everywhere---with pop corn.

In the 70s there was a scifi show with 12 colonies searching for a lost 13th colony.

They were governed by a council of 12.

Worshipped the Lords of Kobol.

Higher beings of good and evil influenced them.

Their leaders name was Adama.

Decades later the series was rebooted.

The name... Battlestar Galactica

Was Orson Scott Card involved in any of the sci fi? Rumor was the Card used much of his Mormon culture in his writings?
