She had six children, and could control all of us (4 boys, and 2 girls). Also, air conditioning for homes was unheard of in those days, so screen doors were in the front and back of homes, and screens for opened windows.

Nevertheless, going in and out of our doors invited fly's a great chance to come indoors, as (they might have thought) it would be cooler inside.

At any rate, a spider spun a big web between our dinning room and living room area. My mother kept it there because the web would catch the fly's faster and better than we would be able to do with a fly swat.
