Suddenly We aren't doing enough as a family to get ahead in life. Everyone is lazy and are going nowhere. A week ago everything was fine, gently prodding to go to school, find a job, etc. Even cried of how will they every get married?!?!... when they aren't doing xyz.

I don't remember a talk specifically about any of these things, but I do remember the same negativity last year. Why does the stick get rammed up their butts at conference? How is this helping. It seems that making people act like an Ass to their wives, husbands or children would speed up the disintegration of the church. Am I wrong.

Does this actually get people to buckle down? Do people fall in line?

My guess...

They all just got their guilt booster from conference. Just seeing or hearing the GAs can make them remember all the stuff they think they are supposed to be doing.

A side effect is a weird self righteousness.

I was about as negative toward religions as I could get BEFORE conference
