The real problem is too many kids learn about masterbation in "worthiness" interviews. Some at age 7. Some at age 11.

As a non-mormon, I was told the bishops and higher officers had the gift of discernment.

If true then the masturbation question isn't needed.

The bishop could look at you and just know when, where, how many times and with who you did it with.

The punishment could be prepared ahead of time and just given out.

It'd save a lot of time and stress.

Shoot, with everyone having cell phones, the punishment could be text'd out and no meeting would be necessary.

Oh, they do that a lot. Especially for groups of missionaries. Then they get hordes of missionaries feeling like sh!t and confessing and wanting to kill themselves.
