I'll start.

Temple goers are "worthy" meaning everyone else is "unworthy."

They are in the "one true church" meaning our churches are "untrue."

They are chosen of God which means God does not love the rest of us as much because we are undeserving.

They are working for the Lord but the rest of us are "Lamanites" working against Him so we are likely in the clutches of Satan.

This is just the beginning. Do you know other signs of Mormon hatefulness?

Calling non-LDS "gentiles", even if they're Jewish.

"Gentile" was the first thing that came to my mind.

I also think that it is odd that Mormons always talk about "immorality" and usually use it as code for "sexual immorality." There are a lot of other ways to be immoral besides that. Lying, bearing false witness, fraud, obstructing justice by covering for pedophiles, being prejudiced, discriminating, neglecting or abusing missionaries etc.

"Suffering from same-sex-attraction" is offensive to me because it implies that gays could just simply choose not to be gay. That being gay is a choice rather than that people are born gay.

That is one thing I never heard in my 25 years in the cult. My own TBM mother even specifically only ever said that Gentiles were non-Jews, not that non-Mormons were Gentiles.

(I have mentioned this before, but I'm mentioning it again.)

Their standards are about sex, giving money and time to an institution, and not drinking coffee or alcohol.

They don't give a damn about relieving poverty, protecting the environment, or preserving global peace. Many of them are still racist. The LDS Church is openly and proudly sexist and homophobic.

Their values are not my values. I don't care whom you sleep with, although I don't condone cheating on your spouse. I do care how you treat other people and the environment. Have your coffee and tea, which are much better for you than soda and ice cream.

My nevermo best friend's TBM mother-in-law tried to persuade her son not to marry her because she doesn't share their "values" and that would make it harder to raise children. They got married in an Anglican church, and the MIL cried the whole day.

Wasn't it nice of the Anglicans to let her attend.

No kidding! I bet MIL, never even though twice about that. Of course, she can go to their stupid church to see the wedding, she's better than them. Its them that have to try and measure up to her standards!

One thing that's still stuck in my craw is when my TBM SIL mentioned that we were raising our children with different morals than her kids. As if somehow her morals are better or more desirable. I want to say that's not how she meant it but I mean...that's probably how she meant it lol.

This is not just a mormon thing. Lots of chrissies and muzzies think morals come from religion, so if you are an atheist, you have no morals.

Nowadays I think it's the other way around: that lots of people would go around the neighbourhood eating children if it wasn't for their belief in the ten commandments.

Anyone who uses SSA to describe gay people is homophobic. Being gay is a sexual orientation, not a disease. I don't suffer from being gay, but MOrmons claim that you suffer from SSA.

If someone uses the term SSA, they are trying to marginalize gays and treat homosexuality as a disease to be treated, not respected.

Calling their dark skinned jewish bretheren unkosher fits their overall attitude toward the NAs.

The one statement that I remember was,, " you know you are not,,". then they would proceed to tell you what you are "not".

I grew up with this term in my Evangelical Protestant home. I never realized how racist it was until reading this post! Every cotton, picking time I heard it... Just kidding.

I really am mortified. Amazing how these things aren't obvious when you grow up with them. I don't believe my mom ever realized it either. My dad - well, I can't quite be that generous as he was a bit of a racist in his own right.

I think some (most?) of the uses of the above are more a subtle form of arrogance rather than hatefulness...

In the Old South the slave owners often "loved" their cook and nanny, but there was an arrogance when they used the N word and other terms to refer to them. The arrogance came from their deeply held bigotry.

Claiming to be "In the world, but not Of the world," is a slur to everyone in the world.

The Mormon need to feel superior points to really low self esteem, which they should have. How could you feel good about yourself living that religion?

To Mormons, immodest=showing skin that is supposed to be covered by their garments. And so they proceed to judge every person in society by whether they conform to their clothing rules. In Utah, that includes imposing those rules on school age kids as part of the school dress code. They slut shame young girls who show their shoulders, or whose shorts don't go to their knees.

In reality, immodest might more correctly be defined as being vain, showing off, or bragging. For example, saying that you are the 'one true church' or being the 'chosen generation' could be considered immodest. Even calling themselves 'saints' is immodest. Joining a church doesn't make you saint. DUH.

Whenever I see an article about people leaving the church it is inevitable that I will see a little party of ultra-orthodox fringe TBMs circling the wagons and having a circle jerk where they talk about separating the wheat from the tares and all that other culty nonsense that helps their tiny minds process how good people can leave the church. You can sense a very real hatred and disdain from them towards those who have left the church.
