The 1847 Mormon move into the wilderness of the valley of the Great Salt Lake, an uninhabited desert, was clearly prophesied in the Bible (I think this is my favorite Biblical prophecy about Mormonism, because it is so accurate and specific):

Jeremiah 17:5-6

Thus saith the LORD; Cursed [be] the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.
6 For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, [in] a salt land and not inhabited.

Could it not apply to those precursors to mormonism (just ask almost any apologist) the Essennes.

Isn't it fun how you can fit "bible prophecies" to just about anything? :)

I once got bored enough to search for Bible prophecies that proved that I was the son of God.

I'll bet you can find some that could be stretched to fit the bill...:)

All I know is that the Mormonism must be true because the Joseph Smith translation of the Bible accurately prophesied that a Joseph, who would share his name with his father, would be prophet. I got goosebumps!

And even the book of mormon, the second witness, confirms this:

2Ne3:15 And his name shall be called after me; and it shall be after the name of his father. And he shall be like unto me; for the thing, which the Lord shall bring forth by his hand, by the power of the Lord shall bring my people unto salvation.

2 witnesses. Game, set and match.

But they didn't inhabit the salt part, they inhabited the valley that was partially wooded and fed by mountain streams.

True, but they would have you believe it was a vast wasteland that they 'brought to life'. I have even been told by some TBMs(when I first moved here) that when the pioneers arrived here in the valley, there was not a single tree anywhere! Gag.

Each generation also believes the prophesies about the second comming. It's been at least 5 or 6 generations and still no Jesus. Looks like either Jesus doesn't give a ×#!$ about bible prophesy or the prophesy is bull !#$/.

If you go by the "biblical" calculation (based on the supposed # of generations and years between Abraham and David), a "generation" is about 51 years. So it's been around 39 generations since bible Jesus.

If you go by actual statistics, a "generation" is about 26 years. So it's been around 77 generations since bible Jesus.

But, yeah -- still no Jesus. MIA.

Mormonism is cursed -- with or without the bible.

Nice poetic irony though.

Well if Mormons are cursed then fundies are even more cursed.

Have any of you been down to Colorado city lately? Yikes!!! what a disaster! So much potential, they could really rake in the cash from the tourism down south. All the Japanese that come and have never seen a mountain or river before. They'd love to shop down there and get their fill of polygamy handcrafted products, I'm sure of it.
