Looking to find EX Mo support type groups in Houston Texas for a friend. Anyone know of any? Willing to provide an email if that helps.

Hey, I'm a Brit in Texas too! Houston as well!

A long time ago a few of us Exmo's used to meet over a beer, but it wasn't a formal group and it was just 4 or 5 of us.

If someone needs to vent over a meal or a beer or a coffee I'm happy to do so.

I go to Houston pretty often. Spent the worst two years of my life outside of London. Love the country hated the fucking reason I was there. Would love to meet some Exmo's.

Sam Young hosts his own "Talkeria" in Houston for Ins-and-Outs looking for a nonjudgmental place to discuss the otherwise undiscussible.

Here is his blogsite:

https://invisiblescubit.wordpress.com/

Sam has a heart of gold. Read some of his blog to get a sense of him. His initiative is to Vote Opposed. If you sign up to follow his blog, you will get notice of upcoming Talkeria gatherings in Houston.

I was surprised to see that John Dehlin has nothing going in Houston. There are group in Dallas, Austin and San Antonio, but nothing yet in Houston.

Connect with Sam. You'll not regret it.

Sam Young - was he a Mormon Bishop in Houston? A friend of John Dehlin?

These organizations exist. Have a look at videos of their meetings and check them out from there.

Most of the members are former members of one religion or another; pretty good odds of your making connections to exmormons. Even if there don't happen to be any, you will be with like-minded, smart people. p.s. Mike Aus (ex-pastor)is a kick in the pants - a fun speaker; judging from what I've seen on the videos a genuinely nice person and is very knowledgeable about bible, christian church history. He has given some good historical talks , informal, very fun, not what you think (see videos).

I am from Houston and right now I think Sam's meetup is the best one going.

I hold 2 to 4 "Talkeria's" each month. I generally advertise them on my FB page and on reddit. Should I advertise here, too?

Below is a link to the last notification.

A little disclaimer. About 1/3 of those who attend are active members who desire to remain active. However, their faith has or is going through a major transition. I've been doing this for 7 months. 65 individuals have come at least once. The largest gathering was 18. Smallest--2. We average around 5.

Someone mentioned "Flying Saucer." Sounds like a great place for a get together. Although, it does get a bit crowded.

Feel free to reach out is you have any questions. I love meeting people in Houston who are in my same boat.

I'm moving back to southeast Texas in 2021 when I retire. I have dined with Mike Aus, leader of Houston Oasis. He's a real 'stand up guy'; a good man. I joined the church in the Beaumont Texas Stake in December of 1970. Served a mission. After 43 years, left the church in January 2014. Am currently an admin for three Kansas City area ExMormon Facebook pages. I look forward to having ExMo friends when I return to southeast Texas. Already bought a house an hour north of Beaumont.

it is only the foulness of the Mormanic programming that makes the Exmo crave a structured meeting under the leadership of an identified hierarchy ~
