Helmut Kohl, creator--more or less--of the euro currency, passed away. For me, although I wasn't particularly fond of him, he was a fixture, and I will miss the big guy.

Kohl will be long remembered for putting Germany back together after Stalin had ripped it apart.

It was simply unfortunate that he became fixated on the creation of the Euro, which was always insane economic experiment.

As you can imagine, we didn't have a lot of interest in our story about Joseph Smith and his Golden Ticket...er...I mean plates. So, out of boredom and frustration my companion and I decided we would be accosting the noble citizens of Germany with even weirder Mormon doctrine.

She thought we said we wanted to talk to her about Kohl (as in Helmut Kohl). She then went into a litany of complaints about corrupt politicians etc.

Well it was worth a shot, and probably just as effective as anything else we did.

I hadn't heard this. But now after snowball's story, I'll always think of him as Helmut Kohlob.
