Is The Sabbath measured by the clock or by sunset to sunset?

Several years ago, there was a woman in my area who was shot in the parking lot of a Mormon church on her way into Sunday meetings. How would this Mormon respond to that? Sheesh...some people.

I have a rough idea hoe Jesus may have answered. He was about to heal a blind min and his disciples asked if he was blind for his own sins or of his ancestors. Jesus said "neither, it is just the way of the world"

You know those gun laws the US doesn't have. They are more relevant.

gun laws don't prevent people adapting their guns to fire more rapidly, neither does being a gambler or property developer teach you the skills required to do the same. Someone inexperienced with guns couldn't adapt them either. Alleged perp either lived a double life or had assistance.

The official story sounds like a mormon explanation: full of holes and changing enough to contradict the earlier story(ies).

Because your sabbath day is Sunday, it doesn't mean my sabbath day is Sunday as well. My cousin lives with her family in the UAE and their Sabbath day is Saturday cause the weekend is Friday and Saturday and Sunday is a normal work day.

I was this asshole. I was scared to death and trying to make sense of the world and find some way to be safe and avoid tragedy. I didn't say it out loud, but in my mind God would keep me safe if I did everything right. The main message I got from countless hours of indoctrination was, being good is the only way not to have horrible things happen to you. When things were going well, I could feel a bit smug and slightly safe. It's probably what kept me in for so long after I didn't really believe much of it at all--FEAR.

I rarely prayed as a Mormon adult. I tried to fly under the radar. If I asked God for something, he'd assess my life for worthiness to be blessed and that was never a good idea. Mormon indoctrination had me feeling like I was a dirty raisin on God's shoe. If he noticed me, surely he'd scrape me off. I don't remember specifically feeling like victims were being punished by God for wickedness, but I surely thought being super Mormon would protect me from harm.

The world is still a scary place. Now I attribute things to natural consequences and, mostly, random happenings.
