I only have one.
Wby do you continue singing the praises of Joeseph's Myth, acter the Mormon CULT admitted he "married" (raped) his followers wives, when every law ever written governing marriage has condemned that as adultery, including the one written by Joseph Smith himself, which he said he got straight from God?

You can read the new questions for yourself.

https://assets.documentcloud.org/documents/4113814/MissionaryLetter.pdf

I probably would have been disqualified for Questions 13 and 14.

And I probably would have punched the BP for even asking me about Question #8.

Reading that (especially the addendum,) makes me feel so far removed from any religion that feels compelled to micromanage behaviors.

One more reason to be glad I left, and know my son will not have to endure this BS! Ugh...

Monson's signature sure is crisp.

He must be feeling better.

I wonder what they are doing about the ADHD, ADD, depression, etc, question as far as qualifying/disqualifying missionaries as the ADHD and ADD and Asperger's diagnoses seems to have ballooned in recent years. There is nothing in the Appendix as far as guidance on health issues, just the usual tripe on tithing, observing Sabbath, etc.

I'd had my Appendix removed prior to my mission...

ADD. I don't remember what the medication was, but it was illegal in Central America, where they originally wanted to send him. It was right there on his application. I called somewhere in SLC after finding out that the medication was not allowed in Central America, and he would not have been able to function at that time without it.

That little episode made me begin to doubt the "divine wisdom" of the calling.

They re-assigned him to a stateside mission, where his medication could be monitored by a local doctor who remained in contact with our family physician. With this adjustment, he did very well.

He remained TBM for a long time - married in the temple and all that. But he and his wife were incensed over the business of not allowing the children of gay parents to receive ordinances. They and their kids are out now.

It was fun to see him swigging back a cold one on a combined Father's Day/my birthday BBQ.

All of our kids are out now.

Just for fun, my answers:
1. Nope
2. Nope.

4. Nope, don't have one.
5. a: No, I have not and will not live by your "law of chastity."

c: I'm not paying you a cent.
d: I drink coffee and alcohol and tea.
e: Saturday is the "sabbath," not Sunday. I don't keep either.
f: Yes, I'm honest. Far more honest than the church.
6. Nope.
7. Nope.
8. Nope.
9. Nope.
10. Yep, on a regular basis. They're the best.

Several of the questions seem to violate the principal of repentance, forcing the prospective missionary to dredge up and defend past actions.

As the news article points out, definitely seems more oriented to protecting "the Church" from potential lawsuits than it is in guaranteeing a missionary that is "worthy".

From the article:

"Steve Evans, a Salt Lake City lawyer and founder of the Mormon-
related blog By Common Consent, says the questions that bishops
asked prospective missionaries in the past were 'all over the
map. Whenever you just have general instructions, you are going
to get all kinds of questions asked — some appropriate, some
inappropriate.'

"He adds, 'You also get different evaluations. Some bishops sent
people on missions despite significant problems thinking that a
mission will help cure them.'"

********************

Yep, assuming these Bishops are "a judge in Israel" and that
they have "power of discernment," and that they can "receive
inspiration and revelation" for the members of their ward had
been a disaster. Much better to take "inspiration and
revelation" out of the process and have a standardized list of
questions and policies decided by a committee.

That's what Jesus would do.

Do you think a lot of members violate number 10.

Why does the church care about honesty when the missionary is being sent out to promote a lie?

“ever sexually abused a child in any way“ (regardless of whether or not they were charged or convicted).

What a creepy (Warren Jeff's zone) question if you take into account that the missionary age range is from 18 to 25.

I have a female friend who is preparing to go on a mission. She had her bishop interview, when she told the bishop that she wanted to go to the singles ward. He got irritated and said that she would go inactive. She has an interview with the stake president on Sunday. She was told it will be a couple of hours long.

She had to write 5 pages of her daily life, times she goes to bed and wake up. what she eats her routine. She had to write her testimony. She didn't mention if the bishop asked her sexual questions. I bet the stake president will ask her sex questions. She is a young girl who is just coping with being diagnosed with MS this year.

It makes me mad that these men are going to be mean to her and take advantage of her.

Sigh if I could only tell her a few things of how missionaries are treated like shit, saying they can't get converts because they touch themselves.

She's a good person. I just wanted to vent. I don't want to see her get hurt.

I would have to answer the speech question yes, since I had a horrible lisp as a little kid. Several years of therapy to learn to say an s.

Still do if I am over tired and the work hours would bring it on so..........I would have been excluded..........

Of course I'm not Mormon so that would be a HUGE strike against me too.

I wonder if this will become something akin to dodging the draft...? Young TBM's who don't really want to go can now use any number of excuses to be turned down for serving their missions. They can still carry their heads high while attending church and claim that they wanted to go but their ADHD prevented them from serving - not their fault. Of course a priesthood blessing could have cured them if they really believed, so there's that.

These aren't questions as much as VETTING, witch hunts, emotional/ mental/ spiritual torture, [opportunities of] admissions of 'sins', invasions of privacy, guilt trips, electric chairs, probes, etc.

They are attempting to go DEEPER into (prospective) missing-aries' personal ([once] private) lives and get them to go deeper into tscc (if possible) so it can funk them harder - and deeper - into its Trap ("church" [Doctrine])/ anals of MCBS (Mormon church BS).

Do you hate the church as much as it hates you?

Do you treat it like it treats (or mistreats) you?

Will you try to funk (flunk) tscc like it tries to funk (flunk) you?
