I cried for a week when my first cat died at only 7 years old. She had been vaccinated, but still got FIP.

Eventually, we saved another life at the humane society by adopting a black kitten. It seems folks are superstitious about black cats.

I’m sorry for the loss of your kitty. (((Hugs)))

FIP took mine at 6 years old. Angela, I'm sorry.

That's how my daughter got hooked on them. A lot of people think tortoise-shell cats (with the split orange/black faces are ugly too, but I think they are beautiful, and I have two of them. I would dearly love to adopt yet another, but DH and I realized that any kitten we adopt at this point is likely to outlive one or both of us, and we don't want to send a formerly loved and spoiled cat to "The Shelter."

So, no more torties.

It is like losing a family member. We had to have a cat put down 12 years ago. If I think about it I still cry. Have not shed one tear over my TBM Mom veins dead.
So sorry about your loss.

It's always sad when a pet dies. I feel the same way as you guys who mentioned being more sad over a pets death than a certain person. Some people can be so mean and cruel, their whole life's, even. Pets don't have hatred, love you no matter what, are always there for you. They even reduce stress. There are people who cause stress.
The sad thing is that pets aren't with us long; they have a very short life span, especially small pets like guinea pigs, hamsters, rats, gerbils.

There really are no words to express how it feels or words that help.

Mine's almost 20 and my main worry is that I'll die before it does at this rate

I am so sorry for you. Maybe, you can get another one to love when you're ready.

The worst experience that I ever had about losing a pet came from assholes at church. They asked me why I looked so sad one day and I made the mistake of telling them that I was saddened over losing my dog. A bunch of heartless bastards ridiculed me. "It's just a dog. Get over it." Another prick joined in "Hey Messy. All dogs go to heaven so cheer up." I hated church members' lack of empathy, but some had no trouble having a crying fest over the death of Joe during F/T.

I'm so sorry. I'm sure she was a darling.

I lost my Cate last summer. It took 4 months before I could even consider another kitty. I got Daphne last Christmas. She's sweet, but perfectly ordinary. No one can replace Catie.

Hugs, love, and comfort to you, angela. That's a terrible grief.
And, boner, I'm glad y'all got a black cat. I think they are strikingly beautiful.

I'm so sorry, I know how it feels, I lost my cat last sunday, he was severely injured by a dog and watching him die was terrible, the image of him trying to get up and walk despite the fact that he couldn't move his back legs was one of the saddest things I've ever seen in my life.
When he died I was sad because he was a great cat, but at the same time I was happy for him because I knew that he stopped suffering.

LuckyLucas,
How sad to see that. so sorry.

I know when cutekitty dies he will have lived a good life. He found me 11 years ago when he was about 6 months old. He came in one cold day and never left. He has been the best cat- never going potty outside the box! To me that is a very good cat. And he is very funny and cute. I did not want a pet when he came along. I was pet free for the first time in my life. It was cold out- 20's- and I let him in for the night. The rest is history.....
